The Classic & Vintage Racing Dinghy Association went to their 5th and last event of the year on the beautiful lake of Colmere in Shropshire over the weekend of the 14/15th Sept 2002.

Numbers were a little low on our first visit up north with 9 boats competing, but we still recieved an incredbible welcome from the small and friendly club on the banks of the beautiful Colmere bathed in sunshine for the whole weekend (well that’s how I remember it).

A good selection of classic dinghies took part with two 12s, two Fireflies, two Merlins and of course the almost unbeatable Pegasus of David and Keith Rollinson returning to sail at the club of their childhood.

Wind was light and thermal, gently fluctuating around the lake, but always enough to keep everyone moving around the interesting courses laid by Jim Wilson our able Race Officer, which always provided a good beat and a fair reach.

After 5 races the Pegasus of the Rollinson brothers had managed 3 wins with the National 12 of Stuart Budden and the Firefly of Ed Bremner each managing to snatch one win.

1st: David & Keith Rollinson – Pegasus 194,
2nd: Stu Budden & Lizzie – N12 2204,
3rd: Ed Bremner – Firefly 2942.

1st Colmere Sailing Club boat: Don Dickenson – Solo 206.
