Bill DeMay
Not sure if "banter" is the right thread but I am sad to report the death of Bill DeMay on November 18th at the age of 98. Bill was a stalwart of Ranelagh Sailing Club since the 50's and sponsored the DeMay Trophy that was made by Chris Barlow for the Vintage Merlin Series. His funeral is ...

Re: do you have a spare rescue boat?
Sorry to hear of the vandalism! Ranelagh probably has a couple of race marks that could be borrowed for a few months if someone can collect from Putney.

Re: Vintage N12 for sale
No more details of those sails which are in Brixham. Neptune won our winter series twice in 72/3 and 74/5 when the likes of Michael Jackson were sailing at Ranelagh. Hope to take some pictures later today.

Had another look at this today. It has Needlespar metal mast which doesn't have any rigging. Metal centreboard.

Re: Vintage N12 for sale
David's sister has also found some more sails in Galmpton including cotton, though the mice have got at some of them. She also has sails with 2 inverted arrows, don't know what those are?

Vintage N12 for sale
Sadly, due to the deaath of one of our members, David Wield, his National 12 Neptune, 1567 is for sale. This boat has been stored inside at Ranelagh since I have been a member and is pulled up. A look inside revealed two sets of sails and two wooden booms. It looks sound if in need of varnish and wo...

Re: Which Singlehander?
We have had personal handicaps at Ranelagh, for our handicap series races, for a couple of years now and it seems to work well with the better sailors generally doing better and winning series more often than the less talented. If you win a race your handicap gets reduced and if you finish last, it ...
