I'll stick my oar in here. Clinker boats rely on the wood swelling to keep the water out. As they get old grot gets in the seams and as the boat moves the planks move against each other and get worn by the grot and so leak. You can stuff the seams full of sealant it will keep things going for a bit,...

Hi all, I've read in Finnatics the sensible advice to practice sailing without a rudder so you can get off the beach with a fixed one. My old Finn has a fixed, and there I am practising sailing without it and as you would expect going round in little circles and sitting head to wind. I've tried all ...

Hi all I'm selling my surplus Finn as the other one is on the water now. So any offers on a white Pearson, no number known. It has been registered as there are a few kilos of lead on board. I'm selling with a good Needlespar black top, boom and North sail (mid 80's) The hull is in good condition and...

Hi all,

see http://www.aquataurmodels.com

Was looking at a post on Unit 7 about it having a seat like a tractor one on the end of a pole, and was reminded of this model boat design.

I've been thinking of something like this for years.................

Dear Peter,

Thanks for the message, in plan view, the starboard quarter is a different shape to the port, it has been done at the moulding stage. I was wondering if the boats were made in a split mould and somehow they bolted two different halves together!

Hi all,

I'm just putting on the wooden gunwales of Pearson Finn K149 and have noticed that the starboard quarter has a bulge in it when seen from above.

Does anyone else have a bulgy Finn, or am I the lucky owner of a Friday afternoon special?

Regards.

Hi all, just going to stick my oar in on this one as I had E228 when I was 14 and had to do a similar job. It's fine to replace all the aft planking and you also have to stop it happenning again. There are loads of ents with this problem that have been wrecked by the little pool of water that collec...

I agree with you about the spearhead, when I saw it first I thought it was awesome and would beat a 505 hands down.It had the most innovative shape I had seen at the time with a really well engineered space frame. Probably no one wants it because it is just too different. I'd love to have it but can...

Looked like a nice boat, anyone else interested in them?

Do you know of any other sources of information on the Dolphin?

Hi all, I was just looking at the Roadford pics and in DSCN0011 start jpg and in DSCN0109 start jpg there is a large wooden boat with an inboard rudder and a backstay. I would love to know what it is. A few weeks ago an identical boat was abandoned on a roundabout near Torquay. South Hams council pu...
