Re: Does the FB Group support the CVRDA Mission?

Neil.....it is a tough one but rather than have to make a choice between one and the other, the 'going private' route may well be the lesser of two evils. If you are interested enough in the classics scene, then you will be a part of the main thing, if you are not....case rests. In the end, it is th...

Re: Does the FB Group support the CVRDA Mission?

Hi all - picking up on the point that Rupert has just made, many of the 'established' classes that I work with are seeing this shift taking place, with more and more of their connection with the members - and their promotion to the outside world taking place via social media platforms. Those that ar...

Re: Clywedog Rally 2020

Hi Keith,

I had been keeping the date in my diary but now I've changed my camper van for a floating camper (aka a motorboat) I'd have to default back to camping so am ruled out for this year.

Good luck though I hope that this can go ahead safely and that you all get some great sailing in.

Re: Enterprise E110

Peter, I worked closely with both Jack's daughter (who lives over on Canada's west coast), other family members and those work colleagues that are still with us for the Holt Centenary back in 2012 and there is very little remaining in the way of records. My guess would be the Enterprise Association ...

Re: Vintage International 14 Rally

Will any of you be at the Dinghy Show next weekend?

There are some ideas starting to come together that hopefully will see some of these very old 14s being seen out on the water again....

Re: More lost classes??

Julian (and Peter V) The re-emergence of the L5000 was due in part to their having their big anniversary event recently down at Hayling Island. The L4000 is of course now part of the Rooster empire so is no longer a 'lost' class - nor is the Buzz/Iso as they still have the vestiges of an organisatio...

Hi - where are you based?

Fitting out was completely open, so I rigged my Marauder pretty much as my Hornet had been set up...…

I've loads of info on the M14 but am not normally on line, though I hope to be so again soon

Far more of a Hit than a miss!

Hi all, This is in part something of a 'heads up, a proper advert with pictures is 'in production'. After a super summer sailing in the HiT, it is time to move it on. It has done the job that I set it as the boat has appeared in a number of articles in various publications. But what a boat it is - a...

Re: The Best Of…The Wingnut Award

Dear oh dear Pat....in the interests of honesty, I'm going to have to put my hand up for one (only ONE?) - think Baltic Wharf, the Unit and a tin of pro-lube......and Ed B telling me "don't do it"...….ouch. Or stamping a hole in the bottom of a merlin then blaming it on a heavy footed crew...

Re: Bosham classics

Tony, Short answer - none that I know of and yes, I did ask the question (though there have been boats that do both, but not actually from BSC). Just like when asking the questions the other way, the answers are complex but - if I had to put my finger on any trends, the topics raised would include t...

Re: Bosham classics

Pat, re the comment on the Moths, I agree that whilst Lyndon and Ian sail older boats, looking at the list of those sailing in the reported event in Scotland (which was the point that I was making), the majority of those are way too modern to ever be considered CVRDA legal. but, as low riders, they ...

Re: Bosham classics

Peter, i don't think that the CVRDA rules or entrance criteria are under scrutiny. But the question "where was everyone" is worthy of being asked. In the same way, your own earlier comment, praising the low rider event in Scotland - which comprised many boats that are not even CVRDA eligib...

Re: Montague Sharpie

Hi Tim, I've more than a passing interest in the Sharpies - as they were the performance boats that were very much in evidence in the early 1950s...… an era that is fast becoming a topic of mine as I dig deeper into the research for the 505 book. I'm only just up the road, could I come and see your ...

Re: What was wrong with the Mirror 14 / Marauder?

And now an interesting post script to the comment made yesterday. I spent nearly 3 hours yesterday afternoon out sailing in the Hit - the Peter Milne single hander. If you don't know the boat then just take it that it is a slimmed down single handed M14 hull form. In sailing characteristics is share...

Re: What was wrong with the Mirror 14 / Marauder?

Mark, I'm sorry but the M14 was NOT the logical step up from the Mirror, as the file of correspondence that I hold clearly shows. Peter Milne had done a superb job of designing a true 'pocket rocket' and everything that you said about the performance of the boat is absolutely spot on. But if you had...
