Moth wants to fly again

Hi, I tried to moth in the January, but found in the end that I have simply not got the time to do her justice. So, would you like a Moth? Check out all the conversations etc on the forum pages "what moth is that" to see what it's all about. She is free to anyone who is interested in resto...

Re: What kind of Moth is that?

Hi, sorry for the slow reply. I went down to the shed a couple of days ago, armed with heat gun, extension lead and scarper. I had a really good go at the port side and transom area of the boat (see attached two photo). What I found was no number, but no doubt a place just aft of the winglets where ...

Re: What kind of Moth is that?

A big Thank you to all the helpful comments. So, Skelly it is by the sound of things. So, what does this mean? I had another good look in the shed and failed to find a sail number carved anywhere. It may be beneath the very faded varnish, but I had a pretty good look. Until I get her into the garage...

Re: What kind of Moth is that?

Hi, again thnks for all of your suggestions. I'll try and get down to her tomorrow to have a look for a number (though I'm not too hopeful). You can see she is not in the best of conditions... To chine or not to chine? I hope you can see in the photos that she has indeed got a very shallow chine - b...

Re: What kind of Moth is that?

A big Thank to all of your suggestions and comments. Thank you for the invite to sail. I'd love to, but give me a chance to get her in a flaoting stage first - I suspect this will not be the case until at least the summer. Currently she has more holes than a decent sieve. Yes, got the wings and the ...

Re: What kind of Moth is that?

Thank you all for your very kind welcome. I can't wait to get started on her. Just leaves to finish that Hobie 14 that is blocking up the garage at the moment...that one needs to be ready for beginning of March when our club comes out of hybernation. Where did I put that sand paper again? Regards Di...

Re: What kind of Moth is that?

Hi Ian, thanks for your reply. yes, why did it take me so long. For a start she did not belong to me until about 3 days ago. She is not in excellent shape and at that time my kids were pretty small and I was working my way through restoring a Mirror, followed by a 1960s Scorpion (number 507), a home...

What kind of Moth is that?

Hi, I've just taken on a new restoration project. She had been smiling at me for over 8 years from teh back of the dinghy shed. Finally she is mine, but what is she? She is probably a Moth built around the late 1960s, but any idea what type or designer? There is no plate, no name or number, just a f...
