Enterprise Restoration
Hello all. ; I recently acquired an Enterprise built in 1964 in South Africa. I have restored a lot of wooden sailing dinghies over the years, but need some adivce: 1. Where can I get a detailed doc on measuring the Ent. It seems that due to some loose knees, the boat is a bit more flat (by 3/8ths o...

Re: Fireball Refurb
Ok, So after a lot of sanding and some more sanding the top of the fireball is almost ready. Almost time to flip the boat and start on the hull. Bow is now sanded as to a "soft as a babies bottom" state and looking good. http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff446/smilicus/Fireball%20Refurb/...

Re: Fireball Refurb
So I sanded the rest of the area that is makred as sanded in the previous post with some 120 grit foam sanding paper and all the last bit of varnish is now finally gone. Started on the other side with the longboard, but being a work week, I will only have that done by the weekend, sine I do not have...

Re: Help with an Old Marauder
Good luck with the refurb Owen. Very rewarding process especially when you go for your first sail on the boat.
Good luck with the sanding, I am currently busy sanding down an old Fireball
Take care

Re: Fireball Refurb
Wow David, great job and all the hours put in shows. Had a hectic week so not much work on the boat...and with some bad weather coming, I built a little roof for the mast that is stored on cradles along my one wall. I would like to get on the water soon, but would like to have a fireball to be proud...

Thanks again David
Another question - How can I tell if the boat has been epoxied or varnished?
Happy sailing all

Re: Fireball Refurb
Thank you for the advice DavidH...looks like there is a long time of sanding lying ahead.
Quick question, I am changing the layout/rigging of the boat to the new layout...would Epoxy make for a stronger boat than varnish?
Would love to see your pictures of the process.
Take care

Re: Fireball Refurb
Thanks for the advice guys
Will take it slow with the orbital and only use a long board after the primer.

Re: Fireball Refurb
Hello Guys Thanks for that, the boat has not been primmed before paint, or so it looks to me, so will only see if I need to sand down to bare wood when I collect the boat on Saturday and start with the process. I have read on a few other forums (boat forums) that people are having good results with ...
