Re: Shearwater 19th July

It must have been the early nineties I would think. Ah, long after my father stopped sailing there in the early eighties. I didn't realise there were still fireballs there as late as that. Back in the seventies there were 4 in the club. As a child I could never understand why we had to finish so fa...

I remember racing a fireball at Shearwater when I was a member there.
How long ago was that? Didn't think there had been any there for years.

Re: Shearwater 19th July

If you go Roger, I'll get dad to come and show you what to do :) If he can remember!

By the way is Colin Singer likely to be there. He's probably about the only person dad would know.

Re: Merlin 799

Oh dear. Even I got a couple of posts in the first week and I thought that was bad. Sorry to quote you "The classic scene is still very small in terms of people wanting wooden boats." but I see what you mean now. :( Good luck. By the way, I thought Keto was your Shearwater boat. Does that ...

Re: This could be bad for your health!!

Hannah is at Uni in Rochester, currently at home may be I should take her back instead of sending her by train. I love the look of the calypso. I am very tempted to make a bid but probably wont. Is there a mast boom or any rig at all? Just looking at some old posts when I probably should be working...

Re: 2014 events!

Must admit I'd never thought of sailing under the Clifton suspension bridge. I'd think if the wind is from north or south there'd be nothing at river level but from east or west would be like sailing in a wind tunnel! Could be interesting :D

Re: 2014 events!

I am pretty sure Shearwater is offering an event next year. Time to start challenging the rules then. Would be good to get 341 back 'home' where she belongs. Can't remember who or where but someone suggested there was already a Fireball in the club when the length limit was set, so an exception was...

Re: Baltic Wharf 16 Nov

Well the boat floats Good news indeed :D I always thought she would. What up with the self bailers, is there a lot of water coming in? I'm a bit surprised about the CB as well. It was a bit tight if anything when we got it out a couple of weeks ago. I had to lie on the drive and push it up from bel...

It has got a trapeze, are you allowed a different handicap just because you haven't fixed it yet?

Re: Budding writers needed

Hi Rupert - Johnny here Firstly; I sail a relatively old Fireball Wow, is 14017 a relatively old fireball? I thought if I bought a brand new one today it would be 15xxx or thereabouts I have just got Roger on this forum to take 341 from my dad which dates from about 1965. Even if we were up to 16xx...

LOL

What do you mean THEY!

If you can persuade my mother to get on that trapeze once you've fixed it I'll refund double your money. Dad yes, Mum no chance! Don't think she really enjoyed it when she was younger, just did it for love

Re: Classic vintage Fireball for sale

Roger I have tried to send a message to you but not sure it worked as it appears in my 'outbox' not in 'sent items'. I agree the 16’ rule at Shearwater does seem a bit silly, given that in the past the boat has sailed there, and from memory, at one time, about 40 years ago, there were 4 Fireballs in...
