Mini Sprint

I have a mini sprint for sale. The hull is in very good condition but the foils need a bit of attention. It has a maxi sail that has only been used 3 or 4 times although I did manage to stick in the mud. I would like £250 for it to recover the cost of the sail but I am open to offers. I live near Pe...

Re: National 12 - design?

According to the hand book it is a baggy trousers, the last one built. But looking at the pictures it appears to have too many chines for a baggy and the transom looks rather chapterish to me. It was Amateur built so could well have been modified. The National 12 handbook says it is built out of a m...

Re: harrier/harrier+ dinghy

When I had a Harrier + I sailed off 1078 I thing (the old laser handicap). It seemed very generous in light winds but being quite light I quickly became overpowered when the wind got up and struggled to keep up with the lasers. I might have done better if I had raked the rig back further. There were...

Re: N3246

I think you will find that the splits the 12s use are quite logical and correspond to changes in rules or step changes in evolution.

Re: N3246

At all the major and many of the lesser 12 events. National 12s run differnt catoragries for the differnt ages of boats. Normally these are vintage (Clinker), admirals cup (single bottom) double bottom and foiling. 3246 will fit into the admirals cup section and should enjoy competetive racing again...

Re: Thingummyjig

Dammed crews always think the thwart is there for sitting on. It is there to stop the boat folding up. The answer is quite simple you sit in front of the crew on the side deck, if the wind is too light then move into the boat and stand up. I used to sometimes end up standing on top of the centreboar...

Sail for a Mini Sail

I finally got my Mini sprint home after sitting in Dinghycrafts yard for more than a year. On the up side the hull seems in very good condition withvery little crazing of the gell coat. On the down side the sail that came with it is definately not a minisail/sprint sail there are no control lines or...

Re: Spider in the garage....N12 info please.

I am very friendly with the second owner of Spider who has been very helpful to me in providing shelter for my boats and a place to work although he did suggest once that perhaps I should sell a boat before I bought any more and that was just my 4th boat! Any way I brought this thread to his attenti...

Re: Prodders

Thanks Sami, I seem to remember a post that gave a few more details like spreader deflection (if that is the right term, but I do realise it will be a case of trial and error at the end of the day. Does anybody know a good supplier of ali tube with a suitable section for making spreaders. I can find...

Skol Moth

I sailed my moth for the first time this year, admitedly in rather tricky conditions, but i found myself wondering if I still want to do this as the boom got stuck on my life jacket for the umteenth time and my knees creaked alarmingly as I wobbled down the run. I even managed to fall overboard to p...

A little while ago somebody on this forum posted some very useful information on making proders, dimensions etc. Now I want to make a prodder I can't find it, can any body help either by pointing me in the right direction or repeating the information.

Re: Here's that Moth.

Yes definately a skol mk11. I can testify to the fact that Skolls become totally unsailable when they fill up with water, back in the early 70s WR SC were trying to adopt the Intrnational Moth as a class and had borrowed a skoll 3 from Rondar (that insidently was how I got my first shot in a Moth). ...
