Re: Roll up, roll up, buy an entire museum collection
I would have thought that the Chinese setting up a collection of the ethnic boats was a good idea , at least that would keep the collection together . Many of them being from the East in the first place However I see no reason why they would be interested in the very random dinghy collection , the b...

Re: Roll up, roll up, buy an entire museum collection
The prime aim of the Exeter Maritime Museum , ISCA , was to preserve the Worlds ethnic boats before they became extinct . The late David Goddard was just the man for this with good contacts and a love of traveling to far flung places . This seems to me a valid purpose for a museum There were two or ...

Re: Roll up, roll up, buy an entire museum collection
That s a shocking letter , at least to me I would suggest that anyone thinking of selling boats to the authors think again ( and have a little look on Google ) Just check the photos of poor storage and condition of most of the boats long in A T s ownership Its disappointing they have managed to buy ...

Re: Roll up, roll up, buy an entire museum collection
The terms and conditions of the sale stated that Lots not removed by the required date would be disposed of  I would assume the priority is to clear the sites ASAP On the other hand all but a handful of lots did sell and you would have thought would be collected I bid on A.T s 14 which did no...

Re: Roll up, roll up, buy an entire museum collection
I think the reserves are set very high at the moment because they are trying to sell as a collection . Should SK not be able to do so there business terms state reserves can be lowered or I suppose removed and I think this will occur nearer the date of sale So be careful if you are bidding just to t...

Re: Roll up, roll up, buy an entire museum collection
Oh dear , why are these being sold off ?
Some great boats there but the Lot descriptions are too poor to bid on , no mention of rig , sails etc with the dinghies
This sad collection is a great example of how you folk in the CVRA are way better custodians of classic boats than a
museum
