Me too Pat - it was a good day out. At the start I was cursing those folks with various trolleys and barrows but by lunch I was quite jealous. I found some spreaders which look like I can make fit as well as loads of rope, blocks, trailer bits, oh and a new wetsuit! The Mrs literally pulled me away ...

Graham, the mast on B&O is in Yorkshire and I'm in Southampton but cheers anyway.

Pat, lets hope the spreaders aren't spread too thin - I'll get me coat...

I emailed the link to Hawk Marine (owners of the Needlespar business) who deny it being one of theirs but suggested an early Proctor or a Holt Allen. The mast section is similar enough to a D+ to (probably) allow using their 'original' spreader sytem but the price of that lot new is about the same a...

FYI Wet and Windy were very helpful but explained that the plate is NLA and should be removed from their website/catalogue. They did however give me a name at Holt who may have been able to help. In the end I sourced a slightly less dished replacement which is now serviceable after some "encour...

Thanks all, I will make the wood base and order the plate from Wet and Windy.

I have often admired the hardwood chopping boards in our kitchen whilst chopping the spuds - will look at the nylon ones differently too now :-)
cheers

Hello again, Six months later and E6013 is nearly ready for varnish - looking very swish with her new transom et al. Thoughts are moving towards fittings and rigging and I have a question regarding the mast step. I have the SS plate on a wooden block type (HA/4324) but the block is perished and the ...

Thanks for this Chris. I think I have a plan now and it's basically as you suggest. I'm thinking sit it right-way up on a temp frame made of odds and sods, a 2x3 brace (left-over roof truss) across the aft decks, a post under truss infront of keel knee, a batten to top transom frame and then a ratch...

I have made a blog and posted some pics if anyone wants a look.

Any help dating her or identifying the mast and boom would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Thanks Ed. Sounds like I'm thinking along the right lines. Perhaps some support won't hurt during the process. I'll try and put up some pics soon - it may help with getting a positive ID on her too - I can't find any numbers or marks anywhere on the hull. No worries with my scarf joints - I'll try t...

Haha - very good. Can't tell you what the mrs suggested!
Seriously though, should I be worried about the boat loosing its shape if tackled the wrong way? Should I fit temporary frames or something?

Hello everyone, Is this the Classic & Vintage Racing Dinghy Woodwork Association? Just got an old Ent home (think it is 6013) and started stripping and poking to see how bad, needless to say I found more rot than expected. The transom panel, lower transom frame (sorry I don't know the name for i...
