Vintage Moth for sale...

Due to a change of plans, I'm selling my early Skol moth.... It seems to be a Skol SD (self draining) made by Salterns, before Rondar took over and called it the Skol 2... It's 1970 vintage, sail number K2992, and I'm the third owner!! The previous owner bought it at 1 year old, sailed it, broke it,...

What was wrong with the Mirror 14 / Marauder?

I see them pop up from time to time, and always wonder why they didn't do well.... They were from a pedigree designer, and all the sailing reports I've read say they were rather nice, and yet only 1000 odd got made..... Yeah, that's the physics working... it happens in any pulley system.... The only type of kicker immune to it is the old winch drum style....

Re: moth cutting

Chris, what's the other year you have??

There's a load here

http://international-moth-archive.org/i ... k-archive/

If you have any of the missing ones, '70 and '71 in particular, I'd love to see them to try and pin down the exact age of my boat....

Re: moth cutting

I don't know why it changed.. the '68 British yearbook has pics of both the M in a circle (both M and circle are printed in red, but that may just be the printing tech of the era) and the moth silhouette....

Both the British Moth, and the CMBA in America use a red M in a blue circle....

Re: Laser 1 possibly very early #39

When one sail has the digits 3 9 on it with a big gap between, and the other shows 10359, I think the number must be 10359!

It's still pretty early as the wooden foils attest...

Re: Scows various...

There are problems with the word skiff too... Wiktionary has skiff as 1. small flat bottomed boat with flat transom, and vertical stem 2. Any small boat that can be handled by one person.. So all dinghies are skiffs, not just the modern fast ones that get called skiffs... And a Minisail, British Mot...
