Re: Mast carrying on vans

I think I can borrow a 7 metre long mast trailer but I’m still going to have some big overhangs. I will try and contact deben rowing club to see if the have a longer trailer.
What could possibly go wrong?

Re: Mast carrying on vans

Has anyone got a good idea for transporting very long masts? I need to collect the rig for the Rater. It’s only 45ft long!

International 14 K871

I need space so my 1965 fourteen needs to go to a new home. Aquamarina was built in 1965 and has been dry stored for many years. She is complete and ready to sail. Alloy mast, boom and selection of spinnaker poles. Main and jib are old but have lots of life left in them. 1 spinnaker from the 80s tha...

Re: Xmas greetings and next projects

The B Rater needs some hours cleaning up the inside before starting on the decking and rig.
If I get bored then I can always find something to do on the 14, K871.
The mast on N760 could do with more varnish but it will wait until when I start varnishing the Rater.

The We’re Here

If you are really bored I have remembered my old blog on boat restoration and building.

http://n760.blogspot.co.uk

I’m sure other restorers could make a better blog and share ideas and experiences.

Re: 2018 events

Aldeburgh is provisionally 16th and 17th June. We must be due a sunny light weather weekend.
We are looking for a good turn out of 14s with several first rate renovations being undertaken in Suffolk.

Re: Centreboard case not true

Do you know the thickness of the sides of the plate case? I don't know anything hornet specific but could it be 4mm ply with stiffening? If so, chopping out 1.5mm or so might not be a good idea.
Do a proper job and put a new case in it!

Re: Advice on owning an Uffa Fox International Fourteen, ple

Hopefully we will get a calm weekend next year. Aquamarina (871) will be sailing again unless I can find a new owner for her. I'm only about 10 miles up the road if you want to have a laugh at my latest project...

Thames B Rater

After months of scheming, the pre First World War Thames B Rater has made to my barn.
There isn't too much work to do, new ply deck, a few timbers have cracked and some seams have opened up....

Can you clarify the definition of a 70s & 80s disco? Is the age age of the members attending?

Re: ISOs etc

How about a lovely old i14? As luck would have it, you can have K871 for a few hundred pounds! If you pop up to Aldeburgh for our classics weekend you could have a great weekend racing on a beautiful estuary and take a piece of history home.
