TOY for sale - a lovely boat

My TOY is for sale - it is an early boat, probably sail number 6. It has a wooden transom beam (not the tacky ali ones), really nice wooden sliding seat and has been fully restored - the rudder, tiller, centreboard and seat paint/varnish work is all in good condition. The hull / deck join has been s...

Re: ToY for sale on ebay...

Shame that the sliding seat has been messed around with so much (and also a bit pricey !). But interesting to see the photo - the aft part of the centreboard case is very different from my TOY - perhaps this is one of the late ones.

Re: My old Hornet - Rev. Dr. Syn

Thanks, that's interesting. I have in fact just come across an old photo in my Mum's attic of the boat - it was indeed sail number 1141.

Re: My old Hornet - Rev. Dr. Syn

Sadly I cannot remember what number she was, and do not have any photos. Photos were scarce in those days !

My old Hornet - Rev. Dr. Syn

When I was 17 - which amazingly was in 1972 - my brother and I owned a lovely Hornet called Rev. Dr. Syn. She had a sliding seat, black hull and varnished deck, and at the time I though she was the coolest boat I had ever seen - I still think so ! just wondering if she is still alive - I really hope...

Re: Looking for a TOY

Thanks Amy. I have looked for the hull number but cannot see anything - I suspect the hull has been painted a few times. I will see if I can gently strip off some of the paint. I hope to be able to come to some events this year - I tend to be away quite a lot, but will certainly try to make it if I ...

New TOY mainsail needed

Having just bought a TOY with a worn out mainsail, I am now looking for a new sail. Early TOYs were fitted with same sail as a Solo (second hand ones readily available), but is only 8.3m2. TOYs were soon upgraded to 10m2, and that's what I am after. Or any suggestions as to a good cheap sailmaker th...

Re: Looking for a TOY

That's really useful. I have just checked and now see that the Solo main is 8.36m2 which is the same as the TOY was originally, rather than the subsequent 10m2 the TOY was later fitted with. Being a medium sized chap, it sounds like I will need the full 10m2, in which case it looks like I might have...

Re: Looking for a TOY

Hi Amy - I think mine is sail number 66, but the sail is a bit tatty so I am not 100% sure ! I am planning to buy a second hand Solo sail - I understand that they are identical. Interested in your comment about making yours leak proof - I did wonder if they leak around the hull / deck join. I will b...

Looking for a TOY

When I was a teenager I owned a TOY and I am now looking to buy one to re-live my youth ! Any condition considered. I would love to find my old boat - I don't know the sail number but it has a big thistle painted on the rudder. Cheers, Simon Hewitt 07900001313 simon.hewitt99@btinternet.com
