Free Osprey for resto - come get

Well what a roller coaster it's been - some forum members may recall the tribulations briefly recorded of my efforts restoring a pair of Ospreys. http://www.cvrda.org/community/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=6647 The first one we acquired (Flypast) wasn't close to being ready for the water so a second Osp...

Re: ENTERPRISE No.878 emerges blinking into the light

Hi Guvnah, Glad your hands are better. Would that it were so but it seems that there's a recurrent component to it  It must be at least a month since I had any involvement with bare timber of any species but two days ago I got that same 'preliminary' warning itching that lasted until this mor...

Re: ENTERPRISE No.878 emerges blinking into the light

Soooooo..... over 18 months since the last post...! Reason being that every waking hour has been vacuumed up by my fight with this city's utterly dysfunctional mental health service provision and the lack thereof. Trying to penetrate their encircled wagons has been draining on every level but now th...

Re: de-bodging an Osprey centreboard case - advice req'd

Jeez this is not funny! 6 weeks down the line and if anything it's getting more intense??? Have to light a cigarette from the gas stove now as without effectively opposable thumbs it's pretty much impossible to manipulate a lighter! It's actually causing a lot of problems as basic domestics are gett...

Re: de-bodging an Osprey centreboard case - advice req'd

Well that was a year I'll be glad to forget. Who was it said "the scariest words you'll ever hear are: 'Hello, I'm from the government and I'm here to help'." Was it Reagan? Whoever it was nailed it. Ladles, Gents - with apologies for the extended absence but the situation with my W...

... if Guvnah is interested? Deeply, abidingly and irrationally so to the exclusion of all else. 878's has that ominous split and it's just a matter of time before it lets go and Flypast's looks like it's escaped with its life from a sustained piranha attack. Blimey here's me scratching my me...

Well I'm in the Midlands and Wilts/Swindon isn't that far in terms of diesel, perhaps I could act as intermediary here? If I pick the GP board up I'd be happy to wrap and despatch up to Tom if Tom is willing to do likewise?

Re: GP 14 centreboard

...I have a spare Osprey centreboard I could perhaps cut to shape... I'm in the Forth area. Tom could I ask you to stay the jigsaw? I have a pair of Ospreys, both of which are in fairly urgent need of replacement centre boards. Would you be prepared/persuaded to part with it? (for a renumeration of...

Wither fortune's wing'd chariot? Well it's just pulled up outside as it happens :D I've been haunting Ebay, Gumtree, Free-Ads, plant auctions and the local classifieds for nearly two months now trying to land a compact and capable bandsaw. So many times I've had the finger hovered over the BID NOW b...

... NHS should be informing people, problem is drug companies, Now ain't that the truth Ruth? GP's (aka licensed drug peddlars) are very keen to prescribe and from bitter experience with my Wife's current condition and this city's officially "Inadequate" mental health provision I can tell...

Looks great, well done, looks like a manufactured item, rather than something done in your kitchen. Crikey! now that is generous praise indeed, properly made my day that has and I thank you for it. Re, The dust, their is something you can try, but it's not pleasant, fill your washhand basin with wa...

Re: de-bodging an Osprey centreboard case - advice req'd

Wood dust allergy can apparently be quite species-specific. Hope it clears up quickly. Four days later and it's still irritated, streaming, still sneezing. :?:  Think I'd better give the kitchen a top to toe wipe down to remove every last trace of that damned dust. But no matter; finally had ...

Re: de-bodging an Osprey centreboard case - advice req'd

I don't think you'll need nails and epoxy as the epoxy bond will be stronger than the wood itself. I've only ever used it on smallish things but I've either just clamped the joint and left it... You reckon? Well I've not drilled for them yet so I'll have a bit of a re-think. ...or put in a few well...

Re: de-bodging an Osprey centreboard case - advice req'd

Bit of an interruption in proceedings as I've had to divert all attention into tearing the local authority's 'solicitor' a new 'un which was time consuming but oh so deeply satisfying... but nowhere near as uplifting as getting this ruddy boat afloat will be so meanwhile back at the Workmate it was ...

Am I going mad?! Revel in it Mark; you own an old wooden boat... if ever there was an object purpose built to induce recurrent bi-polar disorder it's an old wooden boat, love, hate, despair, euphoria all accessible in equal measure. http://www.cvrda.org/dinghydata/Bullet.htm http://www.cvrda....
