Butt joint floor repairs
Hi, I have just acquired Enterprise 15905 which is a need of a little TLC. I need to replace a section of the floor up to about 0.5m form the transom and a section of the keel band beneath. I was intending to remove the keel first then cut the sections of flooring out with a jig saw using the side f...

Re: Compass varnish
No I haven't contacted International yet. I have in the past for advice and, as you say, they were very helpful so will give it a go. I did rub down a small section of deck tonight with 1500 grade wet and dry and it has polished up really well. However I want to leave it to harden off a bit further ...

I have used two tins of Compass on the inside after stripping the decks back to bare wood and applyi...

Re: Compass varnish
Goldspar is a polyurethane varnish as well, it is Schooner that is the traditional varnish. That is my point, both Goldspar and Compass are the same type of polyurethane vanish and are quick drying. So I can't really see any difference.

Compass varnish
Can anyone tell me the difference between International Goldspar and Compass Varnishes? My local boat shop told me they were the same and International were stopping making Goldspar. However they both appear to be on their website where the Compass varnish appears to be desribed as more superior. It...

Graham, Thanks for your advice. I have just checked the certificate and the boat is actually 15 years old, sail number 3754 built by Tony Thresher. On another matter I tried to purchase some plastic wood today, which is the two tube plastic padding product with a hardener I have used for years for f...

I have owned a 13 year old wooden Solo for 2 years and am about to totally re varnish it. However I am not sure what type of varnish was last applied. I have traced the original owner and established that two pot was used when first built. I must admit to be a fan of two pot varnishes as I used them...
