Re: Centreboard case not true

If this was Duncan Nicholson’s old boat Super Zonker the case was a diamond shaped as was that of the original Revolution. The boards for them were made specially ( custom), to gybe in the case. Alan Williams Horneteer for nearly 40 years. Thanks Alan, mine was just slightly warped (sadly) since be...

Re: 11+ afloat

Well done, what a lovely boat. I absolutely loved our 11+ (the first boat I helmed) late '70s at Ardleigh SC on the newly completed reservoir. Ours had a metal mast (IIRC) and beautiful honey coloured Dacron sails that attracted every midge on summer evenings.

Heat damage to old marine ply?

My Hornet (a very early Revolution kit/design K1798) which I have just finished and am learning to sail has started getting a few (three) hairline de-laminations in the foredeck ply. It has been down to the wood then varnished with wood impreg and then polyurethane traditional varnish. These cracks ...

Centreboard case not true

My ancient Hornet needed a new centreboard. I shook the money tree and contacted Milanes they asked me the width of the case and the width and shape of the old board. The case was 25mm wide along the top and the board 24.5mm at the pivot (gybing board) they supplied a superb replacement (non gybing)...

Re: Small Fireball

Tell me about it! Sorted the Hornet hull out only for my very racy son to break the plate (longitudinal crack) and then we both pulled the (un-refurbished) rig and spars apart over Brightlingsea's excellent Pyefleet week. At least I managed to get Malcolm Goodwin to confirm that the hull was Revolut...

Small Fireball

Can anyone save an old bloke and his even older dad's memory please. We both seem to remember a smaller version of the Fireball in the early eighties/late seventies - around 14 foot long. No idea what it is/was called and anything more about them at all. I'm convinced I saw one or two of them at Bri...

Re: Don't recognise this...after market transom flaps?

Is an FJ, but not 14 feet. Holes in transom will be original. Looks like one of the Essex Schools Sailing FJs from back in the late 70s - awesome boats to sail as a teenager (far racier than my own Mirror!) - I loved them. Sadly they sat in a field in Langham (not too far from Haverhill) from the m...

Re: Rondar (Genesis) rudder stock transom fittings

Thanks I'm probably going to stick with the 1980s Sea Sure stock as I have realised it will allow me to use my existing trailer light boat and mast prop - the Rondar/Genesis fittings are different. Anyway the first top coat is rolled onto the hull now. I wish we had spray kit and a suitable booth bu...

Rondar (Genesis) rudder stock transom fittings

I have just got a lovely old Rondar stock for my 1970's Hornet. Does anyone have any idea what transom fittings this needs. The boat currently has standard Seasure ones which are obviously wrong for this stock.

Thanks

Mark
