Re: Events 2020

Hi All Its been a few years since we've invited the CVRDA to Thames Sailing Club. This year is incredibly significant for the UK's oldest river club - it's our 150th Anniversary! So we're planning to have a special celebratory weekend on the 20th/21st June. We'll have a number of classes racing duri...

Re: Merlin Mk12 'Wozzo' available for an RNLI donation

Just a quick update as its always nice ot hear that a decent boat is to be saved rather than left to rot. Well done to Tim for taking pity on Wozzo. I look forward to seeing her back sailing at Tamesis in the future.

Merlin Mk12 'Wozzo' available for an RNLI donation

Merlin Rocket Mk12 (we believe) number 1447 'Wozzo' built by Bob Hoare. This has been a fast boat here on the river Thames and had a lot of success with a previous owner in club racing. In fact I think Nick actually won one of the the CVRDA events we held at TSC a few years back in Wozzo. She's stil...

Re: Albacore sails

Hi Sam

Did you sell that set of sails. If not I'd definitely like to take you up on the offer. Can you call me on 07715 501518 if they're still available?

Thanks

Letting my Albacore Twinkle go - any takers?

After my well publicised adventure at the Bosham Classic this year, I've decided that I've got to let Twinkle go. For those of you that didn't see the report or video, basically I suffered a major leak in that the mast step got pushed through the hog which was completely rotten at that point. I've a...

Re: Bosham

Unfortunately mine was the boat that sprung a leak! Combination of rig tension and force 5 increasing towards 6 was too much for old Twinkle. The forces on the mast shoved the mast step through the hog! Here's a video that shows the 'leak' We had fun d...

Re: Bosham

Yeah! I've got a pass! :D I'll be at Bosham on the Saturday and, if I do lots of DIY this week, then I might get a 2 day pass. The entry form is asking for PY's and handicaps. Does anyone know if they accept CVRDA ones? Also my Albacore is 1962 built, sailing dacron and with ally spars. Am I 'old' o...

Albacore ident

I've been offered what is apparently a Youngs Alby sail no.5813. I say apparently because it's a GRP boat with wood decks. But it has a Youngs builders plate. I didn't think Youngs built any plastic Albacores. Can anyone enlighten me? If they did then I'm assuming, as it's numbered in the 5XXX range...
