Re: Re decking a 1957 Finn

Just to throw a spanner in the works - I used 1.5mm constructional khaya mahogany veneers to deck "Larfinn" K465 and it still seems to look good. I first laminated the deck beams of Douglas Fir with spruce stringers. Then, glued and stapled ( removed after glueing ) first layer of veneer i...

Re: Boom needed for a Finn!

Outhaul Threading.... I have always built the whole thing outside the boom with long tails on the blocks and then you can draw the whole lot inside - bit wasteful in string but you won't lose your temper. Also, get a good understanding of what is going on in there. Andy PS Larfinn that was my boat a...

Seafly at Starcross + Fly

This boat isn't mine - I'm trying to find a good home for it - the asking price is around 600 pounds. This Seafly is a foam sandwich cons...

Re: Good finish using gell coat?

Epoxy and bog to fill any imperfections - then more fill, sand with a long board, perspire, repeat - untill desired finish is got. Finally finish with 2 part Polyurethane. And any ikkies, runs and the like can be finished with 1200 grit wet and dry followed by T cut - lovely. Polyurethane is so much...

Re: Dulux Paints

Getting of the subject of paint - I noticed that Ed mentioned keeping a Tideway in a mud berth. Just, I was looking for a place to keep my near classic Telstar Tri.(1979) Having moved from Exeter to Plymouth and always liked the Tamar. Just wondering about mud berths around Calstock/Cargreen....Ed A...
