Re: Roll up, roll up, buy an entire museum collection
From my observations, Lowestoft Marina and Tony have done a fine job while being landlord to these boats, none of them have been sat with rainwater and leaf mould in the bilges, but in dry, well ventilated and sturdy racks, in a secure compound. The mass transit of them around the country is probabl...

Re: Roll up, roll up, buy an entire museum collection
I have bought the 2 moths at Lowestoft and will be going on Wednesday to collect them. Also going on Wednesday midday-ish, so could help. Funny how people suddenly become busy - so now using an alternative vehicle / trailer / assistance. Unsure whether to take the longer rusty lightweight gig trail...

Re: Roll up, roll up, buy an entire museum collection
.... I bid on A.T s 14 which did not reach its reserve and afterwards vanished as a lot number from the sale . Anyone know what happened to it ? There seemed to be a few lots that had the reserves left on in error; in those cases I assume first refusal offers were automatically sent to the high bid...

Re: Roll up, roll up, buy an entire museum collection
I just bought GALATEA, K478, so I shall be en route to Eyemouth with the trailer and must now take Neils' words as a challenge! Watch some chap stick a jet wash in the bilge of K478 here: https://www.facebook.com/RacingAndRiverBoatMuseum/ plus there are still a few photos on their FB page. Seems so...

Re: Roll up, roll up, buy an entire museum collection
And Flying Cloud will be going to Maldon, although a slight error bidding, as I assumed once the reserves were off if would take incremental bids - oh well. Once invoices / gate notices are issued, I offer to collect sails, rudders, dinghy masts etc. from Lowestoft for storage or forwarding from Mal...

Re: Roll up, roll up, buy an entire museum collection
At the moment the leading bid on "Flying Cloud" is the £300 that I put on before I became aware of your interest..... I have bids on some sails at Eyemouth so I might need to go there or arrange something with someone who is going there. It will go for a lot more than that..... so no prob...

Re: Roll up, roll up, buy an entire museum collection
Hang on a minute Gilbert Umfreville Lowes was killed in WW1. Otherwise good and I will step out! Well not good for GL (RNVR, injured, died 1919), but in 1914 HS assumed the proprietors role and the company was engaged in construction of patrol launches, then HS was involved in early seaplane constr...

Re: Roll up, roll up, buy an entire museum collection
Incidentally Lot 627 the little "decimal three rater" FLYING CLOUD ought to be looked after by someone in the CVRDA as she might be the oldest dinghy of all. Someone has put a bid on her - if the someone is a CVRDA person, can I ask that they make themselves known to me? if not I will bid...
