Mastic?! No! The correct way to sort the problem is to use a 'dolly', (a lump hammer head is suitable), a rove driver, ( a short length of round bar with a suitable sized hole bored in one end), and a ball pein hammer;and them a fair amount of time spent tightening up the roves, properly. Late, but relevant. I used to use Blakes, when I was working. Then, when I came to repaint 'Mystery', my Jollyboat, my paint supplier recommended Epiphanes. He claimed it was as good as Awlgrip, and a fraction of the price. I tried it, sprayed, and it was wonderfully easy to use, and gave a good fin...
