Re: Clywedog National Rally/AGM 26th -m 29thAug

Nice of you to say that Pat. My best wishes to Sandy. Many people I know ( and one or two boats!) on the results list so I will keep a close eye on here for the 2024 events , especially any 25th anniversary bash. Would be great to meet up again. I don't actually belong to a club so I'm not in a posi...

Re: Clywedog National Rally/AGM 26th -m 29thAug

Oh how I wish I was there!. And I don't mean that just to have witnessed the worthy winners of the Wingnut. Clywedog has some very fond memories for me and this year was going to be the venue of the National Rally so some months ago I checked out ferries but it was just too prohibitively expensive. ...

Re: What dinghy?

And why not. You can never have too many. I've tried to make my little fleet a bit varied so I don't get bored. The Streaker replaced a Dart/Sprint 15 that I had sailed for many years. Now that baby offered a totally different character but unfortunately I moved to a region where I could not find an...

Re: What dinghy?

If your are thinking in terms of a Heron, how about a Gull? Any of the incarnations are gentle creatures with a really good turn of speed surprisingly. Always sailed mine ( a MK3 and now a MK6) single handed and never considered reefing even in some pretty lively conditions. Weight about 88kg so not...

Re: British Moth (90's) deck project

I'm sure there are folk in CVRDA with far more knowledge about this sort of thing but as a Painting and Decorating tradesman can I offer a suggestion re Q2 and the Sadolin product?. This is a covering coat and not a pure wood staining product. It may or may not take well to having an epoxy coating p...

Re: "Moth Dervin"

I had a feeling it wasn't a Moth. On Leboncoin there are sometimes listings by people who clearly don't know what they have got. Bit like Ebay. Interesting all the same.

"Moth Dervin"

Hello All.

Found this listing on the amazing French site Leboncoin.

There are only three pictures but looks nothing like any Moth I've ever seen. But then, I'm no Moth expert. Far from it. Would be interested in what the Moth brigade on CVRDA think of it.

Hit Dinghy FREE

Hello All. Just spotted this on Gumtree. On Hayling Island. Does not have a sail but, hey. I would have it but I'm just too far away. In fact, I was over in Blighty last week shopping for a Streaker. I was successful so I have enough to play with now. https://www.gumtree.com/p/boats/dinghy-boat-hit-...

MX Ray

Hello All

If any of these have survived, is it time to destroy them?

Perhaps, as preservation is more in keeping with the CVRDA, they should all get a nice full repaint....in Ukrainian colours.

And now a Shearwater in France.

Yes, I've been browsing Leboncoin again. I really must get out more.
I just love the matching vintage trailer in the background of the second picture. The boat has been owned by the seller since 1978.

Bullet in France

A cold, wet Sunday afternoon here in southern France so I'm aimlessly browsing the huge web site that advertises everything secondhand from toys to houses. Have come across this

The Fireball was/is popular in France.

Re: Corona virus shut down

I need to complete paperwork and take it with me for a walk the length of a rugby pitch to the local shop to get food. If i do not do this or II get the paperwork wrong(or I upset a gendarme) I face a substantial fine.
So carry on sailing chaps. I'm not envyous on little bit

OK on the CVRDA Facebook page

Hello All. I 'm not signed up for Facebook so cannot leave a comment on the posting/ad for this OK but I would just like to say that Harry Millican built some really nice wood OKs to a very high standard. This one appears to be relatively unmolested and still sports the Millican trade mark curved bo...
