Re: Help! Don't know what boat to go for?

A GP or Wayfarer seem like the sensible options, but you could also consider a mirror 16 which I cruised on the west cost of scotland when a child or reduced rig jollyboat... Seriously, I think a wayfarer fits the bill, we've cruised them at my club from Lydney down channel to Lundy, safe and stable...

Re: Enterprise Wooden Mast

I live about 20 miles from Newnham and have plenty of barn storage so if you decide to buy I could store the mast here until you are able to find a way of getting it to Suffolk.

J17 taken by pirates

Unfortunately J17, Allegria, was taken by pirates last weekend and wrecked. Much fun had by all and a fitting end to a boat which was way past saving.

Re: Jollyboat mast boom

The mast is now behind a pile of hay bales, so I can't see the makers plate, but it is a gold alloy, think its a proctor. The boom is similar, from memory Its centre sheeting. Have both steel and wood plates, sails (probably quite tired but useable, though the spinnaker may be shot), rudder. Won't g...

Re: Jollyboat mast boom

I have the rig off J17, the hull is unfortunately rotten through and beyond (reasonable) restoration. Could possibly help with any other parts too.

PM me if you are interested.

Re: Inland v Tidal

Have I missed something, or has no one mentioned Lydney YC.Lydney is a small club with non - competitive racing on the upper severn estuary, but also a dinghy fleet keen on cruising (been as far as Ilfracoombe and Lundy) and trail away weekends. Could be your thing for get away from it all cruising,...

Firefly centreboard casing

I have almost completed building a new board case for F2451. Before I fix the two halves together I need to treat the wood on the inside as it will be unaccessible once the case is glued together. Should I use paint/varnish/epoxy?

Re: Uffa King - N382 'Alarm' on e-bay

Surely got to worth a punt at 99p, firewood costs more than that! Already got N941 awaiting attention or I'd have a go, notwithstanding lack of traler or towbar at present.

Re: Firefly centreboard pivot

Michael, Thanks for that, I had been working from a printed copy of diagram 1 in the workshop and didn't check the whole rules. Still working on F2451 Spadger, I think the name deserves to stick, found floating down the River Usk at Newport Uskmouth SC. Getting on with it now so hopefully on the wat...

Re: Firefly centreboard pivot

Thanks Rupert, but the list I found on the firefly site only shows distances of the pivot from the transom and mast step, not vertical height.
