The secret to a tippy boat is that you need wind to lean against then it is surprisingly pleasent.Never go out unless there is at least 5Mph of wind to support you,Doe`s sound a bit of a bad day.

Chew valley sailing club sounds like it could suit you as a starting point,Just below Bristol, inland with an island & all the requirments of parking,dinghy storage plus people around most of the time,showers & friendly club by all accounts.Have a look on google maps using postcode BS40 8XN....

I would have thought that's an example where a club should modify PYs into club yardsticks for classes as the guidlines for using the PY's say you should do. Ths solo in question at my club is sailed above the standard of the fleet so Personal Handicaping works for this race series. Altering the PY...

I sail at a small club which runs a personal Handicap Pursuit race as a midweek evening race & the system is very simular to this. The first 20% have a minute added to their start time & the last 20 % have a minute taken from their start time for that day. Tha start times are orginialy taken...

Meanwhile, the old Harrier handicap was 98, which seems pretty generous. The + I'd expect to try off 95 (same as a Hit trial No!), as the Laser (also 95) does have its uses, if only as a bench mark...there, an excuse to allow it to compete!
