Re: Harrier No. 10 FOR SALE

Class rules of this age always tend to leave more holes than intended. As a "One Design" then the intention was no doubt to have limited changes or development. However, there was obviously some latitude as there seems to be a 100mm tolerance on the front face of the mast which is large to...

Re: Merlin Rocket 3055

Hi, The best advice I can give is don't rush and do it properly once. Don't cut corners and don't think "it will be OK". It won't and having to re-do something is a real pain. If you do it right and completely the first time you will be sailing for much longer and the boat will take what y...

Re: Handicap tweaks

Having sat on the RYA PY committee for some years in the past, I suppose I should not be surprised that yet again person digs have become part of this discussion. One of the most frustrating things we found was the suck the finger and see what we feel like decision with no reference to proper maths....

Re: Handicap tweaks

Considering Brooksey's comments could you explain the rational a little more please Rupert. Could you also comment on an original suit of Mylars as David mentioned. These are surely historic sails and should be encouraged rather than binned to save a penalty?

Re: Reg White

There will be a memorial service for Reg on Monday 14th June at 12.15. It will be at All Saints Church on Brightlingsea.

I suspect the church will be very full so arrive early if you want a seat!

Re: Mouldy old screws in Jollyboat deck replacement

The video is a bit short! I think either system works, just as long as you have a solid template to transfer. We used to rip 8x4 sheets of 4mm ply into 1", 2" and 3" strips to make templates up. We tended to use staples because there was the air compressed staple gun on hand but a glu...

Re: Mouldy old screws in Jollyboat deck replacement

For both the hull supports and making templates for a perfect fitting deck panel you need to master the art of spiling. Ed basically talks about it but you can do it very accurately with small pieces of ply and staples until you have formed your template and then transfer it to what ever sheet of ma...

Re: AGM Proposal

Whilst I hear what you are saying Michael, I would make one point which is that the mission statement starts off with: The CVRDA works to...." In my book that is a pro-active statement, one which says that the association is actively out there looking for ways to fulfill the rest of its mission...

Not quite sure which island you come to but there is certainly plenty of civilization over there. Considering that with their high standards of civilization and good taste they settled up he...

The price Michael is because it is no longer a boat or a work by a shipwright but it is now a work of "art" and that can be worth anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
