Re: G4
If I had a pond to seal then I might, but it's not going on any of my lovely old wooden boats!
Re: Drysuits
I have a typhoon; very pleased and reasonable price. I rarely wear my wetsuit now, because in warmer weather the dry suit breathes and is more comfortable. They come with latex seals which are the most comfortable but can be prone to tearing or glideskin which is like fabric wetsuit material which c...

Re: to screw or not to screw
Decks held in place by screws (ribbed merlins for example) don't require adhesive. Later boats, glued construction, have glued decks. Screws are useful when you stick your elbow through the decking ply because you can take the deck off and repair it. Adhesive decks are much stiffer but not always au...

Seagull outboard; never used!!!
For sale; seagull outboard never fired up since it left the factory in 1974! Needs strip and rebuild before use (which I can arrange), otherwise apart from a few minor marks, a polish should bring it back to shining condition. Would power a wayfarer or similar; not much power but good torque. Offers??

Re: Insect control.
Not the regular honey bees, I'm afraid. These are wild 'bumble' variety with black, yellow and white fur coats on. The sails are all rolled up in the boat along with other bits and pieces so I haven't figured out where they are yet. Don't want to disturb them really, but I might have to relocate the...

Re: Fly Class Training dingy
I sailed them and helped build a dozen or more back in the days. If you need any help, I'll look out the brain cell, but I doubt there would be any parts list available, just plans. (blimey; that was forty five years ago!) Almost everything was built at the club except blocks and cleats etc. All rig...

Re: G4 Thoughts
On wood, I cannot see any advantage in using G4. Mixing chemistries is never a good idea, so my advice is use varnish over varnish. If you want a 'primer' use the one recomended by the varnish manufacturer; you can't go back to him and say 'it peeled off, guv' 'cause he will ask what you prepped it ...

Re: G4 Thoughts
Terrapin was rubbed down thoroughly and varnished with four coats of Epifanes classic varnish. The results are excellent. However, the sealer underneath had turned dark in colour which is irreversable other than by removal. The varnish has bonded strongly to the sealer, but in places it is pulling t...
