Open Event in Kent

I have suggested that Bough Beech SC hold an open CVRDA type event, well the thinking was to get more of the older boats out of the dinghy park and sailing, and then the thinking was why not make it an open. So, he who suggests gets to organise, but will they come? Bank Holiday weekend, specificall...

Re: Single hander preferably car topable

I am not sure the Beachcomber is "easily" car toppable. How about a Mirror? There is a dedicated singlehander following and if you want to take a friend out you can, cheap too. I sail mine alone sometimes but have yet to try the spinnaker on my own. Hoisting would be fine, its attaching th...

Kevin Butler

I have bought some halyards and other bits from this store which also sells through ebay. Very helpful, fast service and reasonable prices.

Re: Paint & Flaps

Thanks for that Ed, by the way how do we post on the new sub site? Do you think some of the photos on my google photos page should be added, perhaps from the Boat Museum? I think the stiffeners do make a difference but I have never sailed without them. I have not noticed any hull twist. I am so used...

Re: early albacore

Reef Points - I had them added by a local sail repairer for cruising purposes and had not really considered that a series of holes would be treated in a Draconian manner. I thought they were Banks sails.

Paint & Flaps

Ive been trying to get info on this - ICI Polyurethane 383 mix - Lido Blue P383/0885 with little joy. The hull of J9 has been painted with it. There are two small areas that need repainting - assuming I could get near colour wise what paint should I use? I do not like the transom flaps either, any i...

Not me. J9 is in the garage drying before a re-varnish and there is just 10 inches spare so the FD would not fit. Shame.

Not exactly CVRDA!

Solo in a 10ft yacht, perhaps I could convert my Mirror!

I just found the concept of this race incredible.
