Re: Is this a Heron?

From what he says"too big for me and my son" almost certainly GP, also pretty certain Heron has no stern decking.

These early glass fibre Merlins were not a success and would advise to avoid although see this one is a freebe!

Re: Classic pys for club racing

I seem to remember discussing handicaps at length with Dougal and coming out with a P Y of 1062 for War Horse. M/R 1939. Handicaping can prove difficult in development classes particularly for a one off design.

Re: Baltic Wharf

David, I feel you are being rather hard on the Merlin fraternity. A couple of weeks ago we had the final DeMay series race at Hampton with 13 boats and many, including War Horse, would then be put away until next year. The Baltic Wharf event also coincided with the RTYC Autumn Trophy at Ranelagh, tr...

Re: Merlin Rocket Adur 3 design - Shoestring - update

Not surprisingly most of the Adur3's started life off the Sussex coast at Bognor Regis SC and SMYC. For 1098 this was Bognor.

Re: Baltic Wharf

I remember Rozzer well at Ranelagh originally owned by Clive Curtiss, quite a character and then by Jeff Worsdale. I also believe in more recent years by Ed.

Re: Merlin Rocket 1028

The original name was Crossbow and she was based at Banbury SC. The 12 was a very popular design in the 60's and designed by Ian Procter specifically for inland waters with a low wetted area and quick tacking. Design won the Silver Tiller a number of times.

Re: Merlin Rocket 2112 History

2112 "Decision" is certainly a 9b built for T D Nisbet a well known Merlin helm at Hamble River SC and Ranalagh. She won the SMYC Sussex Flagon Silver Tiller event in 1968.
