Re: 'Light Craft' Magazine

This is a very old post, but here goes. The Web site "Song of the Paddle" has started a search in support of the Access Campaign for old photos showing the use of inland rivers by boats. The BCU has research which suggests that all rivers may be regarded as "navigable" and hence ...

Re: can anyone give me any info about my swordfish (mary lou

No I'm not in touch. Other than that contact on the Sea Wall, and later in the Race, I've not seen him since, but I think he was a member of Datchet with a Laser 2K. They may be able to help. I'm sure we are talking about the same Alan Wilson.

Re: can anyone give me any info about my swordfish (mary lou

A J Wilson was a well known and succesful Medway Yacht Club sailor. MYC had a very strong fleet of Swordfish. He went onto Fireballs. Anyway, Sworfish 88, Mary lou, came 16th in the Round the Isle of Sheppey Race in 1961, and came 2nd the nesxt year (no owner identified.) In 1963 A J Wilson was beat...

Re: Open Canoe wanted

Hi I'm at present trying to find a Royalex boat for white water paddling. When I do my used Apache 16 will be for sale, hopefully soon. Keep in touch if you are interested. They appear to sail well, see some photos on Song of the Paddle in the blogs section, and the for sale section may have somethi...

I sold her to an excellent home, but the new owner seems to have been seduced by a new beauty

Re: Bill Kempner on Fireball

Been away, joined this thread a bit late. Bill Kempner was the acknowledged star of the 10sqm Canoe at the time, so with the other attributes identified elsewhere on this thread clearly wasn't sailing the planked Fireball for a bit of fun. And of course the plank on a canoe IS very wide, allowing th...

Re: Plans

A contribution on two fronts. Aged about 14, and a very inexperienced dinghy racer, my Father and I were visiting clubs that might prove suitable for me to join. We went to Ranelagh, on the Thames at Putney, where I became a last minute crew for Jack Holt in a Merlin Rocket, (whose mast was mounted ...

Re: is this possible?

I don't look at the forum often enough. I owned 5o5 Yandy K16, a Fairey Hull built for Ralph Wadhan, the owner of Yachts and Yachting (YandY) when she was a competitive 5oh The Fairey boats had curved side tanks, moulded wood like the hulls. However, there were other boats just a little bit later, w...

Unit 7, again

As some of you may know, I bought the boat for all the wrong reasons, but have really enjoyed sailing her. Since Shearwater I’ve even been able to go to windward whilst on the end of the slide. I suspect that her stern dipping characteristics are due to a combination of my extra weight, (David Thoma...

Re: 2011 events

I'm currently in France and have missed some of the recent forum. Menai Straights Fortnight Many of the boats racing are older than the CVRDA boats, although most are like my father's cricket bat, two handles and three blades and as good as the day he bought it!. There are two, not very well support...
