Re: Womble Moth and 1970s racing!

I have quite a few photos from that era and I have been digitizing my slides and negatives. I don't have any building plans; as a first step I would suggest contacting John Claridge at Lymington: www.johnclaridgeboats.com/Contact-Us as he and his brother-in-law Mervyn Cook designed the Magnum series...

Re: The Merlin Rocket Book

I too have a copy of The Merlin Rocket Book which I acquired many years ago when I was going through my phase of studying hull shapes, and which I now would like to sell. It's a very good copy, no damage and not ex-library. I'm not going to set a price (or put it on the bay unless all else fails), b...

Looking under that person's ebay shop for yachting items also brings up: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FUNCRAFT-HYDROGLIDER-DINGHY-LEAFLET-/291303908462 and http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WATERCAT-10-CATAMARAN-BROCHURE-PRICE-LIST-1964-65-McNABB-ROUGIER-LONDON-/291298846849 as well as a Silver Streak brochure...

Re: What kind of Moth is that?

Welcome Colin, I well remember the Wakehurst design, I wish I'd had one - I've still got a copy of your sales leaflet somewhere! Wasn't there a later version called Supawake, Simon Allen sailed one at a Ruislip Lido open? And I remember Martin Wheeler with his white Wakehurst at the 1979 nationals a...

Re: What kind of Moth is that?

I'm glad to say the current UK Int. Moth website has now recreated the page with the scanned yearbooks here http://www.internationalmoth.co.uk/contacts/yearbooks/ which include a lot of vital information for historians. I have most of them from my days sailing Moths, between 1975 and 1993, also lots...

Re: Introductions

Yes, welcome. I've looked for the sail number of your Moth K3655 in old yearbooks and entry lists from the 1970s and '80s when I was sailing them, and also in a couple of record lists that people in the class association started before they became so cool that history doesn't matter, and can't find ...

Ah, knew I'd seen the number somewhere - that's Colin Brown winning the 1972 Nationals at Lymington.

Re: International Moth Sail Number K3222 – Renovation Projec

According to my 1975 yearbook, its then owner was J.P.Bean in Gloucestershire and its name was 'Cultural Overlord'.

Reverting to useful information, it appears to be a Stockholm Sprite design by Chris Eyre.

Re: yet another moff

K-3946 was listed on the (incomplete) Moth register as a Phoenix design, owned by Mrs Midori Claridge (wife of John).

I seem to remember it, it would be a double-chine version of a Magnum 3, should look like this.

Re: another blooming moth

All I can add to this is what it's not.....It's not a Womble, Stockholm Sprite, Chelsea Morning, Phobia, Nervous Breakdown, Shelley, Poacher, Mirage or Mistral (all of which were built in a fair number from 1968 - 1980). If the no. K3634 is correct it was built in 1976, as I built my first boat K363...
