hi there,
I have been working with Roger Angell and Clive Everest building their current boats.
Roger has a pretty extensive archive, including a lot of the original colour photos from the yearbooks,

sadly it has become time for me to sell my lovely boat, she is a solid as a rock , fast tippy and fun, having been substantially rebuilt a couple of years ago, the rig is sound,with an original claridge carbon mast and boom, and 2 caws sails, one of which is pretty good, the other great for the init...

not sure if you would be interested, but i'm working with roger angell at the moment ,
so if you wanted a nice new carbon mast made we would be able to sort you out..

I skinned mine with carbon/kevlar, vacuum bagged on, the kevlar was a pig to work with but it has resulted in a bomb proof hull, and i reckon it added less than a kilo, glad you are doing it properly, it will be a great boat. you could do it with carbon and it would be easier to sand. personally i think it is well worth doing a restoration, if the hull isnt too soggy it probably wouldn't take that much to make a reasonable job of it, the boat is of historic significance within the class being a nats winner, and if we don't save them they will all just rot away and we will lose th...

I would say keep it as clear as possible, sailing upwind you will be sitting fairly far forward and if is a tippy boat you will sometimes be needing to dive through that gap to keep her upright, however. that is based on my exprience of mothing which possibly dosen't bear much resemblance to your bo...
