Toy 140
Hi I am just doing some investigating! I am a Toy enthusiast and currently own No.144 and getting my hands on 179 soon. I noticed on a website at http://www.pegasus18.com/dinghies/index.php/2008/01/03/toy-117/ that Mike Hankins owned Toy 140 'The famous cuckoo built by Tiptree'. In the late 1980s I ...

Re: Toy 144 coming along!
Hi I should have said- the boat is actually fixed together with pop rivets every 100mm or so and then a U shaped Ali strip all along the two halves. I don't want to glue it with epoxy, as at some point it might need to be opened up again. Toys were fixed like this- and then just had a rubber gasket ...

Re: Toy 144 coming along!
Does anyone know where I can get the sealer and some sort of 'gasket' from? The old Gasket has gone hard and flakey.....

Toy 144 coming along!
Hi I recent purchased Toy 144. I decided to crack open the hull (separate deck from hull) in order to renew the woodwork which I suspected was rotten inside the glassfibre hull....and it was. It's all structural stuff. I'm wondering what is the best stuff to replace it with Marine Ply (or WBP or wha...

Re: Toy 144 again!
I was thinking of popping the deck off (although there seem to be about 200 pop rivets!). Do you know what the join for deck to centreboard part of the hull is like?

Re: Toy 144 again!
Thanks! I cut two inspection hatch holes in the hull today to find the area in front of the centreboard up to the mast step totally rotten. I am trying to work out how to replace the wood without cutting huge holes in the hull.... Hmmmmm.... I'm guessing it is a strengthening area, basically a plank...

Toy 144 again!
Hi all I'm new to the forum...so hello! I have just purchased Toy 144 which has been talked about on here a few times! I sailed Toys in the 80s in Plymouth and owned Toy 140 (or I think it was 140!). I loved the boat, so have been looking for another for a while. I know the boats pretty well- but ha...
