Re: Unknown Proctor wooden boat on ebay

I've no idea what it is, but it looks very nice.
Ah, now I see the other thread, I wondered if it was a Zenith.

Re: Finn Wooden Mast Rigging

The classic Finn website no longer exists, but I'm trying to put as much information as possible on the British Finn site.

Re: Finn Wooden Mast Rigging

Floorboards were not fitted to some of the very first Finns, but as far as I can tell they were a requirement from the early 50s, they were certainly in use in 1952, so that predates all GRP Finns and almost all UK Finns.

Re: Quiz ANSWERS

I had exactly the same answers as Rupert, except perhaps the Forth and Clyde canal, which I'm not sure is open at the moment.

So, it looks now as if I should hoist Django into the roof of the garage and think about getting her out next year.

Re: Finn Wooden Mast Rigging

Donie, Here's my set up. My boom fits into the mast the same as yours. You can see I have a strop around the mast at deck level which takes the primary block so the drum power is doubled, then the drum take off goes through a block to a take off to either side so its multiplied by 2 again. You can a...

Re: Finn Wooden Mast Rigging

Donie, I have a copy of the Finn rigging guide which was produced in 1990, so towards the end of the alloy rig era. However the kicker is a lever kicker the same as a modern Finn. For a wooden rig you have to decide how you're going to do it. An old fashioned lever kicker will work, that's what I ha...

Corona virus shut down

My best wishes to all this community in these difficult times. I've stocked up on..... Paint for our lounge and hall, and I've got enough varnish for a couple of coats on Django. I'm very fortunate in that I can still sail on the sea and there's a group of us who will still sail our Finns together m...

Re: More lost classes??

We have a Laser 5000 here at Warsash, it turned up at the beginning of last year and sailed extremely fast, winning most races, but then it is sailed by the Budgen brothers.

We had a Laser 5000 for a while in Bristol docks at Baltic Wharf. It was very easy to beat round the course in a Laser!
