Re: Ronstan traveller car wanted.

Hi Neil,

I put a second car and bridle on mine. It makes things a lot quicker/easier.

Re: Another what is it

Mine was pretty stable. Performance was let down by the primitive rig. The gooseneck was very low and the boom angled upwards from it. No way to get any decent purchase on a kicker (which I do not think was fitted as standard). Vertical battens as well to allow the sail to be furled around the mast....

Re: Another what is it

Hi David,

I owned one for a while. Ripped the rudder pintles out of the transom on a windy day at Clywedog. Easy fix though.

The pointy bow looks great until you sail into a steep wave. The boat goes right through the middle of the wave and you get very wet and maybe washed out of the back

Re: Megabyte????

I have a few email contacts, mainly on the south coast but we may be talking about the same boats that have been bought and sold.

A few searches and emails via the Megabyte forum should pick up most.

Re: Pegasus Rigging?

Hi Rob,

Imo difficult/long winded to inform properly from scratch using photos. If any of us are local, a bribe of beer may well entice someone to come round and show you things. That will be much more effective.

Which sailing club are your sons at?

Re: Swimmers

Put on a white coat, buy a book of raffle tickets and charge them each £1 :)

I knew an old boy many years ago who put on a coat, opened a field gate and stood there all morning collecting money for the cheap parking for the county show.

Amazing what you can get away with :D

Re: Any ideas on a PY for an Orion SRD?

Thanks Rupert,

I will try them.

It looks very much like a stretched Lightning to my eye rather than a supernova but that may be down to the colour scheme and deck layout.

Any ideas on a PY for an Orion SRD?

Hi,

we now have an Orion SRD at Shirehampton. Any thoughts on a PY for it?

Re: Swimmers

We usually find that the mud and sewage put them off :). If not, the tide will probably get them.

Only joking about the sewage nowadays but the water is a funny brown colour

Re: Megabyte????

Hi Neil,

I really like mine. Only a few in the UK though. Ideal helm weight is about 225lb but it will cope easily with about 50lb more (or a lot less in light airs).

If you want to try one, you are welcome to come up.

Re: Advice on carbon mast fittimg

I believe that you need special rivets for carbon. Standard ones crush the carbon so it ends up failing.

Terry Cook at Aardvark has repaired carbon masts for me and is very reasonable on price

Re: What is the worlds most favourite sailing dinghy.....

Hi Max, don't be too disheartened by David's reply. Although everything he says is correct, from a purely academic perspective, you will have a dataset to analyse. My suggestion would be to work out what that analysis is and if as part of that, you come to the conclusion that you needed a better que...
