Zenith 81 - FREE to a good home - needs work

Zenith No.81 probably built in 1963 or 4 - Free to a good home, complete with rig and sails however hull needs quite a bit of work. Both my father and I have other Zeniths - this was a spare he aquired but unfortunatley I can't see either of us finding the time to try and sort it out and get it sail...

Re: Finn 475 for sale

Interesting comments on the D-one... out of reach from club sailors - I take it you mean just in terms of the type of water and courses most race on OR is it also that much more difficult to master than a Finn? Am just interested... I'm not thinking of geting one - I've had enough new toys for the t...

Re: Pimp My Finn

Ed, If you don't like the gunwales maybe you could remove the front 3 or 4 foot of them (like on my vanguard) and then paint the rest of them to match the hull - according to some of the Comet fleet at Severn SC my boat "looks evil/sinister" (I took it as a compliment!) - so that might be a good pim...

Re: Various boats for sale

Hi Alan,

Thanks for your message. Have been chatting with Graham this weekend about his boats - in fact it was him who pointed me in the direction of the one Simon had.

See you at Roadford sometime soon...

Keith

Re: lost classes and handicap numbers - Zenith

Neil and Brookesy - Many thanks for your advice, Roadford sounds ideal so the Zenith will be arriving there in April!

Look forward to meeting you both then.

Best wishes,

Keith

Re: lost classes and handicap numbers - Zenith

I do seem to have opened up a can of worms here! Thanks everyone. Its great to have a much better idea of how the handicap translation should work, although i expect to be at the back of the fleet for a while so I suppose its not actually that important - lack of recent experience will be my main ha...

Re: lost classes and handicap numbers - Zenith

Many thanks everybody for your replies - gives me a much better idea of the area the handicap ought to end up at. I suppose in the end it will be up to race officers and or sailing committees... Roadford certainly seems like a possibility - especially with their cvrda connection I guess they must be...

lost classes and handicap numbers - Zenith

Wondering if anybody can offer advice about how to join in club handicap racing when your boat hasn't had an offical PY for many years? Also how do you translate from the old 3 figure PYs to the 'new' 4 figure ones - I remember racing off 113 at Servern SC in the 90s but that was a local number not ...

Zenith Class

Hi All, Intending to get back into sailing soon after 10yr gap, I have a Zenith (Proctor 1959 design, 14'6'', spinnaker & trapeze) which it is about time I used again! Wondered if anyone knows of any Zeniths still sailing or if they are ever seen at CVRDA events? Here's a pic of mine - mainsail is m...
