11+ GRP
This topic is current under 'Swallows and Amazons', so have given it its' own heading.......... I checked my 1971 'Boat World Guide To Dinghies'. The entry for the 11+ says: Construction 'Marine plywood or Glass reinforced plastic'. The Class secretary's comments : 'The GRP version has a more modern...

Re: What is lot number 7?
I had a look at various lots at Itchenor this afternoon..............
Lot 7 is definitely a Pacer and definitely a wreck.
The transom is all but detached and disintegrating and the floor at the transom end is also non existent. There is a bag of sails, a boom and rudder / tiller. No mast.
Spares only!

Re: Finn buoyancy
Very interesting, Nick.
So are old Pearsons with the bow buoyancy tank relatively 'safe' when capsized, or do they do a nosediving experience?
Thanks!

Wood Mast
I still have a wood mast, measures 6.95m. Has been repaired with what is probably a grp bandage some 2' above foot (repair is blue, rest of spar is varnish), needing revarnish. No rigging. Too good to cut up. Collect from near Junction 11 M25 Chertsey. £5 donation to a dog rescue appreciated or free...

Re: Laser 1 possibly very early #39
Sadly I know a few things about Lasers, and this one is not early: The eggshell blue colour is circa a 130000 sail number, the grab rails are plastic, whereas the earlier boats with cream/ orange/ bright green hulls had magnolia decks and wood grabrails. The sail number would be impressed into the d...

Re: Daring dinghy
I concur with Ent 228; when I salvaged my Finn it was only a190 mile round trip, but because it hadn't moved for 25 years I hired a car transporter with a winch. Just as well as not only did the shrubs have to be removed around it, but the winch was the only way of dragging out the decrepit trailer ...

Re: Finn nationals
Some of the above comments are a little depressing............... Neils comment about the BFA running a Classic Finn Nationals voiced what I'd been wondering ....... I'd agree with JPA that I'd not pay a sub to BFA to participate; Roll on a CVRDA event! and I'd also like to say Peter V says there is...

Re: Finn nationals
Was wondering, if a Classic Nationals was possible,: Would there need to be handicapping for classics with wooden mast / alloy / carbon? Some more modern Finn owners also own 'classics', but by swopping a modern rig onto an old hull there would be an immediate advantage and a disadvantage to the old...

Re: Finn nationals
Perhaps a Classic Finn Nationals could be incorporated at Bosham?
