You are right, I think Shirley's choice of words might have been a little unwise, but you can see her frustration and the man in the street would have no understanding of the systems.

Mind you, be careful you will be asking for honest politicians next!!

I didn't want to mention the cat's!!! However, I think the RYA has lost the plot on this one, although I have very strong suspicions behind the decision. If anyone wants to object, there is a petition to be signed at "Against the RYA's recent subissions to ISAF" http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/Ca...

The best thing about history is distance and the discussions in between! The two man centre board trials took a long while. The first round was in 1952 in Loosdrect Lake and on the Ijsselmeer. There were 16 designs from 7 countries. The FD seemed better on the lake and the Osprey had the edge on ope...

Well I might need some time to get it back together, but we will have to see whether the good or bad reports about the boat are right! I book you a sail David.

It is obviously difficult to know what alterations have been made but I have two photos of Osprey number 1 sailing. One at La Baule in the trials and one on Chichester Harbour where more evaluation trials were carried out. Both these photos show the main sheeted to a horse on the transom. The horse ...

DOn't think we should let this one get away Jonathan. I am sure it would look good at Brightlingsea.

Thanks Neil. That is interesting becuase I have a photo of Austin Farrar sailing Eastwind with sail no K41. It is labeld on the back so I presume it is correct. I think I can see the curved seat. I suppose it could be a borrowed sail. It has a soft sail, where as the pic of 44 has a fully battened r...

Calling those canoe experts.

I am trying to identify some photos of IC's from the 50's. Anyone know of a sail number list or to be going on with any idea of K31 and K44. I have K41 as Eastwind.

Thanks
David

Have a look in the ISAF website http://www.sailing.org and hunt under technical. You should find the guide for area measurement. This dates back well into the IYRU days and quite probably cam out of the YRA.

This is an interesting and very important discussion thread. When I said re-work the wings I was not thinking of combining the vintage and classic sections. The vintage boats should always be treated with reverance after the care that is lavished on them. I still think we must try to be inclusive bu...

Whilst I see the point of most of the comments with regard to the 1965 dates etc, I think we should also be carful not to exclude interesting boats. Making an occasional allowance seems a little unfriendly rather than welcoming. Maybe it is time to rework the wings. I think for the CVRDA to feature ...
