Anyone up for a Veneer Swap Please?

Hi Guys, I am in the final stages of renovation of my Fairey Duckling hull - sadly the repairs to the hull in the keelson & transom area were quite extensive and I decided tto go for an exact thickness veneer repair using excellent 2.5mm Khaya that I got from Capital Crispin Veneers that was previou...

Re: Fairey Duckling Hull Moulding Numbers

I came across an old Fairey Owners Club posting reporting that over 2000 Fairey Ducklings had been made - this information evidently came from Charles Currey who was Fairey Marine's Technical Director I think?

Fairey Duckling Hull Moulding Numbers

I have stripped & veneer repaired the Fairey Duckling that a friend very kindly gave to me to restore for teaching my two young granddaughters to saicl and I have found the number 977 punched into the inner face of the wooden transom immediately below the stern seat thwarts. Pathe Film of Fairey Firefly Production

There is a lot of great detail in this shortfilm and I see more every time I view it - hope you enjoy it. My question is what is the large relatively deep draft...

Removing 2-pot Polyurethane Varnish

I have just been given a Fairey Duckling sailing dinghy to restore which I intend to use to teach my two young grandchildren to sail. However the immediate problem is that the boat seems to have been varnished inside & out with 2-pot poly varnish and a quick trial patch with my usual paint stripper ...

Repair of Glued Clinker Ply Hull

Hi Guys, I would like to get some views on a repair scheme I am proposing for a glued cllinker ply hull where the two bottom glued clinker ply strakes and the hog have been subjected to standing water for sometime (boat stored in the open bow down I guess?) and are now totally rotton. The boat is th...

Wanted Old Finn for Restoration

Hi All, I previously completely restored a wooden Fairey Marine Finn (K197 "DJANGO") that I sold to Ed some years ago when I had no winter storage for dinghies since I then lived in central Cambridge & had no garage. I now live up in the Yorkshire Dales and have a large workshop. So inspired by visi...
