I'm not sure of CVRDA competition rules and don't seek to hijack the events with a newer/faster boat or a moth takeover, but I sailed in the moth nationals myself at Saundersfoot in 1985. I had a Magnum5 (3830, ex Roger Angell and Melvyn Cooper) and was competing against new Magnum6s and John Clarid...

I think a Moth Fest would be a great idea. September or October should be ok for me. May not be able to get away for whole weekend but Cambridge not too far for a day trip.
A bit of comparing, tweaking, chatting and racing sounds ideal.

I would agree with keeping the front end clear. In light airs its best to concentrate your weight around the daggerboard case or even further forward, so need room to move.
