Re: Introduction and vintage International 14 query.
Ah, as you were, I see you've picked up a N12! Good stuff. Used to have a Pipedream and then a Baggy. Great fun, and your capsize drill will be perfect in no time

Re: Introduction and vintage International 14 query.
I wish I'd looked in on this earlier. I'm in the Southampton Area (Midanbury) and have been looking for a boat for ages. I admit to having been very attracted to Uffa designs, especially the prewar boats. I've expressed interest in a Pegasus (a 14ft Uffa design similar to a slightly smaller Albacore...

Re: Free Pegasus dinghy
Hi there, the deck needs stripping and varnish and the rubbing strips need replacing. It has been stored outside for a number of years with a cover but there is a fair amount of work needed. It is near Colchester. The trailer is ok and I have found a couple of good wheels. If you are still interest...

Re: Free Pegasus dinghy
Whereabouts in Essex?
What kind if attention does the deck need? Strip and varnish, or more involved?
Any chance of a pic or two? Thanks, much obliged

Looks to me as though it's a similar principle to a mainsheet hoop - raising the block to be level with the bomb so the mainsheet loads are all lateral. Put a mainsheet hoop on a traveller and you have something like this. I can't figure out that wire bracing though. Seems a bit over-thought.

Re: Clinker National 18 on eBay
Shame. When you think of the thousands people are prepared to spend on a tubby 12 foot clinker 'character' boat, the fact that a bit of history like this has no bids at £500 with a day and a half to go is sad. The difference in practicality must be huge though. If I had an army of helpers, a 4x4 and...

Re: help - wineglass
I don't think there is one. There was a website a couple of years ago that was 'closed for maintenance' for a long time but even that's gone now.

Re: Sea Fire on the bay
The brochure says "tumble home" deck design provides comfortable sailing. I assume this is not refering to the hull but to the deck and I can only imagine that it means something like the sloping inwards deck of a Solo.... Traditionally tumble home refers to the topsides turning inwards a...

Re: Sea Fire on the bay
I've decided against this one on the basis that it doesn't have a proper road trailer which would be suitable for long distances, plus the boat is actually somewhat bigger and heavier than I had thought. Still, It is apparently in good nick and would be well worth a go if someone wanted an unusual b...

Re: Sea Fire on the bay
I was doin that thing where you crane your neck trying to see further up the sail whewre the logo is... Haha, I know what you mean! The symbol was briefly visible on the 'getting ready to go out' video, though both symbols are quite similar as you'd expect. I suspect the Seafire would look very sim...

Re: Sea Fire on the bay
Well, I dispatched my parents to go and have a look at the Seafire today, they took some pics. Will debrief properly tomorrow.
I don't own the boat yet but I'm hopeful. I suspect it dates from the early 60s rather than the 50s, and it's certainly a lost class - I take it it's fully CVRDAable?
