Rich Best I can suggest are Stanley and Thomas, at Romney Lock, Windosr. Details are at http://www.stanleyandthomas.co.uk. Mark Stanley did an excellent job for me on just such a repair on my old Fairey Finn - cutting out a section of hull next to the hog and scarphing in a new piece. Not cheap mind...

Two Finns for sale, both CVRDA qualifiable, one Taylor and one Vanguard, variously described on boatsandoutboards, e-bay, and appolloduck. These boats may be expensive by CVRDA standards, but undoubtedly offer more exitement value per £ than just about any other dinghy available today.

Who are you all insured with, chaps and chapesses ? I have just been quoted a renewal of £203 by Noble for my old '14', which I consider to be extortionate, especially as I've not had any claims, and the value being insured is only £1,000, including T&T etc. I guess the reason is the 'new for ...

David Many thanks. I need a crew with reasonably strong arms, as the boat has no genoa jammers, and it's a biggie !. But otherwise he/she does not have to be big, as the Shdi design was for lightweights. Doesn't have to be a trapeze artist either, as the trapeze is very benign. Choice of harnesses p...

Greg

Let's keep it in mind. Better to have two boats if we can, so let's keep trying. Perhaps Netley could supply two crews ??

50/50, Ed, at the moment. I'd like to, but need to do something about the rig if I do.

I want to come to Netley, with the old '14', but will need a crew. What's the chances of finding someone middle to lightweight, single trapeze, for both days ?

Nice old Redwing for sale on boatsandoutboards, Ref:126745. £900 is steep, but as there is no picture it's difficlut to tell off the ad. Love Redwings, a truly beautiful Int.14 variant.

David No, I don't still have Uptown Girl, I sold her to Jonathan Hill, who also bought my previous Merlin - 3290 - Mornington Crescent (so named because I didn't understand that game either!). 3290 was the first new boat I bought, and I was so excited I paid Guy Winder twice ! He was honest enough t...

The IDRA 14 was designed by George O'Brien Kennedy, as was the YW Dayboat, and was a proper variation of the Int.14, as was the Redwing. The RNSA 14 had a gunter rig, and was a slowcoach. I remember sailing against Erith Sailing Club in the late 50's. They trounced us, and they were using rubbish li...

When I was at HMS Worcester, the training ship at Greenhithe, we had four RNSA 14's, one for each division. They were pigs. Sorry to say it, but they were. The only saving grace was they were undecked, so had plenty of room. The things we do - I broke my leg one term, and had a plaster from ankle to...
