Re: Th 5-Ton Handicap Cup

I do like the title though. "The 5 Ton Cup" sounds quite posh and yotty. Perhaps a handicap system worked by cost rather than (or as well as) performance  Oh I like that idea; a minus or plus factor on the PY number (perhaps weighted in favour of cheaper boats) regarding the declare...

Re: Th 5-Ton Handicap Cup

Yes, that is the biggest issue with this plan. I'd say that any buyout would happen at the end of a series, ie winter/spring/summer/autumn.

Re: Th 5-Ton Handicap Cup

I see what you mean. You're right - it's the banger-racing principle that's the important thing, with the bar sat at whatever level. In truth, you could spend what you like on the boat, just so long as you remember that it can be compulsory-purchased for £xxx.....

Th 5-Ton Handicap Cup

I had an idea a while ago (I suspect similar has been discussed on here in the past) about a way to reinvigorate older, classic boat usage at our Club (Oxford SC). There is an inherent problem with racing older boats in that they have difficulty in competing to their current class handicap number, s...

Kids Catamaran (KL10)

As I'm being moved by work away from my family shortly, SWMBO is insisting that I clear out all my "stuff", including some of the fleet that no longer gets any use... This hasn't been used for a long, long time, but it's a cracking bit of kit for youngsters.... My two used it before they s...

B14 s/n 653 (Rondar Epoxy)

A bitt new for here, but bit's being sold to continue funding my kids' racing, awith hopefully enough left to get me a late-ish model Lowrider Moth... B14 s/n 653, Rondar Epoxy construction, red hull with white decks. 3 jibs (fair, good, very good), 3 mains (fair, good, very good) one kite (not bad ...

Cor! SWMBO's not impressed, but kind of accepting, in a "rolling eyes" kind of way. Hmmm.

Re: International Moth on Gumtree

I just saw it on eBay ..... Could be tempted if I thought I wouldn't get battered by SWMBO.

International 14 No 516

Hello everyone. In our Sailing Club building at work (RAF Brize Norton, Oxon), is Int 14 s/n 516. It's been dry stored for at least the last 12 years and will obviously need fully refurbishing, but its a gorgeous bit of boating history. The owner left the RAF 5 years ago or so, and I need the space ...
