Thank you Rupert, I now have a legitimate excuse for sailing so slowly I can't catch Amy Barlow's TopperRupert wrote:The OK. Old glass Solos are really the pits.

Re: not a sailing boat
No, my memory does not fail me, and it keeps this thread vaguely on topic :D Here are some of the details, and Swan is older than I thought. http://www.devonperspectives.co.uk/swan_of_the_exe.html Now who will buy one of those pedalos and rig it with a mast and sails? Would you believe I originally ...

Re: not a sailing boat
Had to revive this thread for this one. (Although I think we have in fact seen one of these before!) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Leisure-Swan- ... 1e7dfdcd9e :) Definitely has to be good for a Shearwater Rescue/patrol boat? Going back many years, perhaps 1920s/30s, there used to be the Swan and Cygne...

Re: Broken Solo
A previous owner had made a repair by fairing in a patch to the side tank. I presume the pressure of water caused this old repair to fail along two edges.

Broken Solo
Oh dear! I managed to break the Solo yesterday :( I was just playing around at Shearwater trying to tune the rig a little when I got caught in a gust and capsized. Managed to avoid an inversion but filled the boat. I couldn't understand why the boat was so low in the water until I found an old repai...

Graduate 2146 for sale
Reluctantly I am selling our family Graduate. With daughter away at university I have no regular helm and so have had to sail her myself. Composite construction. Built 1970. I believe she may be the prototype composite built by Bourne Plastics. She needs some care and attention that I do not have th...

Re: SRPING TRAINING CANCELLED
Well I went out this morning. Typical Shearwater winds - blowing strongly in places, nothing in others, and swinging about a bit. Still I learnt how not to set up the Solo! Temperature was above zero, just.

Re: SRPING TRAINING CANCELLED
Strange thing is that here, only about an hour from Whitefriars, we have not seen any of the white stuff, a little sleet first thing, that's all. We took our son to the open day at UWE (Bristol) and saw some cars in the car park that looked as if they had driven in from Siberia. Just glad I don't ha...

Re: Whitefriars Spring Training 23/24 March!
Max, Martin, will be good to see you both. As Minisail sailors can never go anywhere with just one boat, we should have a spare for you to sail if you would like? Thanks Rupert, but after taking some time off yesterday it looks like the Solo will be sailable, providing I can find where I squirrelle...

Re: Whitefriars Spring Training 23/24 March!
I intend coming on Saturday only. IF the Solo is ready I'll bring that along (she only needs painting, but I need to find the time to apply it ). Otherwise I'll be free to crew for anyone or can take a spare boat if there is one.

Re: Classic Grad down in Wiltshire
Go on Martin H!!?? She certainly looks good from the picture. Trouble is I don't really have the space for two boats and am going to have to get rid of 2146  Without a regular crew who can do her justice I would rather someone else sailed and enjoyed her. Look out for a For Sale notice here so...

Re: Whitefriars Spring Training 23/24 March!
Lois and I hope to come and stay in our campervan. But, (there's always a but..) Lois is off sailing. She's falling apart at the seams unfortunately, Just had a second eye op and now an injection to sort out a ligament or something in her thumb and mustn't use it for a while. So I hope to be there ...

Hello. The same place also has, or had, a Coypu hull, again just bare............... Any comments please? If anyone wanted to do up the Coypu it could be worth contacting some of the Sea Scout Troops around the country. It was certainly popular around the Solent in the 70s. I believe the Coypu was ...

Re: What is the worlds favourite sailing dinghy?
I wanted to post to this earlier but the security locks on our IT system at work precluded that. :( In terms of Max’s original question as phrased my answer initial thought was “don’t know, no-one has build a dinghy large enough to hold a globe nearly 8000 miles in diameter”. Then common sense kicke...
