Re: Torch Class
117? Is that the old, old 3-figure system? If it was the last 3-figure PY that would put it up there with National 12s, Enterprises etc. Mirrors, Gulls etc were in the 140s if I recall correctly. There were a few GRP Torches at Ardleigh when I started sailing, along with Otters and round-bilge Gulls...

Are these things as impractical as they look? I'm half considering it for car-topability alone but my knees don't like the look of that flush deck

Re: Moth and Mark
You're welcome to pop round and have a look.......the "good" one may also be up for sale unfortunately due to the amount of "stuff" I have to store in the near future! Thanks. It may be I wait to see if the second one does go, then, as realistically I don't have time for a major...

Re: Minisail Kit
The Coypu insignia is a ... Coypu. No idea what a scout badge looks like though. Coypus, as far as I know, were designed and built somewhere in East Anglia/Norfolk Broads. I wouldn't fancy using one on the sea as they're undecked. There were a few of these kicking around the scout sailing centre ne...

Re: Classic 14 near me.
Wow, £260... Makes me feel slightly better about £200 for my MR, but that's peanuts for such a beautiful boat. If I had space, and time, and a crew, this boat would have been perfect. I hope the new owners take good care of her and get good use.

Re: Merlin Rocket Proctor XVI MR1711
A vintage fleet in Belgium, hmm? That's interesting, could you give me a clue on where to find them. I might as well try to join them. It's the 'Giraff' Yacht Club - they have a Facebook Group http://www.facebook.com/groups/244588652232300/ Unbelievably, the enterprising gentleman who bought 'Fearl...

Re: Recreation of Shackletons voyage
I saw the James Caird at the boat show a few years ago, and all I can say is that hauling boats that big and heavy around on the ice for months, then sailing one to South Georgia (with a very inefficient lug sail rig, and what looked like a flat sheet of heavyweight canvas for a sail) was little sho...

Re: Merlin Rocket Proctor XVI MR1711
Looks a nice boat, I have sold my Mk6 (for a knockdown price), as it just wasn't getting sailed. That said the old adage that she is going to a good new home, as they say, is of more importance than renumeration in this instance as far as I am concerned. The new owner and her family decid...

National 12?
This looks National 12ish to me, but could not suggest a design. The date of 1995 is way off, by at least 30 years I'd say. Lots of rocker, glued clinker, steel centreplate... Any ideas? Early Proctor perhaps?
