Good idea. sounds like something that should be done on email - maybe people could send one of us an email each with favourite books (with brief description of contents) to be compiled and put on the web? If anyone needs details on a certain subject, they could then pick the brains of the owners of ...

Ed, quite happy to do the questions for 2 quizzes at once, and set the 2nd next xmas, like this one. research into questions will throw up ones I deem a bit obscure for a non book quiz! I agree, the boat recognition ones were the trickiest, and the least "googleable". Look forward to makin...

The olympic monotype name is used for the singlehanded class at all olympics, certainly up into the 70's. Hence The Int 12, OJolle (1936) Firefly and Finn. I think it is now called singlehanded, but not sure officially.

A couple of pics and details. Also, according to Sutton SC website, there are still a couple sailed there.

Depends how kind Ed is! At least 5 wrong, if marks are given where 2 of 3 are correct, rather than none unless all correct...no, I don't understand what I mean, either, reading it back! Go on, put us out of our misery, Ed!

Hmmm, I think Uffa said several of his boats were his favorite at different times. I should have read the question better, as proud is a different thing! Airbourne lifeboats were amazing craft. Now you give the answer, I remember reading about the Merron dinghy in an old wooden boat/ classic boat/si...

At least setting it up must have made Ed feel clever...trying to answer it made me, and I suspect from the comments, others, feel just a little bit stupid! Looking forward to setting the next one simply so I don't have to show myself up again!

I did the Boxing Day race on Sunday at Whitefriars in that well known classic the Topper Magno! 60 years of post war dinghy development and they produce that...Did manage to hold off 17 other boats in the pursuit, though, thanks to them all ending up in a gaggle behind me and slowing each other down...

OK, Kathryn, I got the hint and clicked submit, even with all those answers missing. Just call me stupid! One good think is that I just got given all my father's Uffa Fox books! Again, not sure if Kathryn sees that in a positive light, as bookcases already full... Looking forward to all the arguemen...
