Re: Inspection Hatches X 3

I have now managed to find 3 matching white hatches on fleabay, they are not the exact size required but I am hoping that with the application of plenty of silicone I can obtain a watertight seal. Neil & Keith, many thanks for your offers, I will get back to you if the ones purchased prove not t...

Re: screws and paint problems

It is highly possible that the Chrome finish may be an imitation chrome (usualy a tin\cobalt mix) which may not be an exact color match if matching with exisiting chrome plated screws or fittings. Screws are normaly plated using a barrell process and the last barrel chrome line in the UK closed some...

Re: Inspection Hatches X 3

Hi Neil, Thanks for checking. If I can find a third then I would be interested in the 2 you have, I'll see what I can turn up in the next few days and let you know.

Inspection Hatches X 3

The rims of the 3 inspection hatches on my old Phantom disintegrated when I removed them as part of the renovation. I am struggling to find exact size replacements online at less than a kings ransom, so was wondering if anyone might have some available the same size that they have taken of an old bo...

Certainly looks a nice hull from the photos. Out of curiousity what sort of budget would a buyer need to complete the boat with a basic fit out using second hand parts ( i.e spars, sails, foils , blocks)?

My job as a buyer envolves me dealing with Chinese companies on daily basis so I can relate to many of the points raised in the article. However I am led to believe the minimum wage at many factories making the products I buy is more like $60 dollars a month rather than $90, though this is for the m...

David, it's certainly an interesting boat. I'm looking for a 2 man boat for my next project but I think I'd have to give this one a miss given the price, location and bent mast. Be interesting to see if it finds a buyer though.

See it's now being described as a Phantom. The hull section and transom certainly look Phantomish but the front bulk head area doesn't look quite right. though it's difficult to tell with that surf board stuck in the way. nice of the seller to go to so much trouble with the photos. If it is a Phanto...

I see the Mirror 16 sold quickly. Would have loved to have taken it as the next project after the Phantom, but at 16' it's about a foot to long for my garage.

Scarfed repair panels now in place, many thanks for the advice. As the restoration prgresses I will have a reasonble amount of fairing to do. Is there a cost effective way of doing this or is epoxy and fairlite the only option. The old glass tape seems to have been faired into the hull with a grey s...
