Re: Needlespar mast track repair

In theory, you can put a sufficient number of small nuts, or a hollow spacer, on the rivet mandril to allow it to pull tight- but if this doesn't leave enough mandril poking out for the rivet gun to grip you can sometimes get away with it by doing the first couple of pulls with no spacer, then takin...

Re: International Moth Sail Number K3222 – Renovation Projec

I like the idea of a Moth roll-call. I would be fascinated to know how many are about!

Who is going to start the ball rolling?

Carbon Mast

I'm looking for a carbon mast- For International Moth GBR3848 which I have recently acquired, the boat came with a very old, non-tapered aluminium stick which weighs about a ton. Basically something ideally from another dinghy which is damaged or broken close to one end, for example I recently misse...

Re: Tony Allen and the TOY dinghy

I want to continue my research maybe find out how many were made and what year mine is. My second one was number 216- so assuming the numbering started at 1, there were at least that many... There was also a production run in the late 1990s, the moulds were resurrected (I believe by some sailors fr...

Merlin Rocket Centreboard

I have a Milanes epoxy/glass sheathed Merlin Rocket centreboard- very fair and strong, a couple of small cosmetic repairs but overall very respectable, nothing at all which affects its use. Speed Sails will sell you one of these for the wrong side of £550! So I am looking for £150 for this one. I wi...

Re: MR spinny

Is is an older 'small' kite you are after, or the newer larger one?

I have a suspicion I have at least three knocking around, although I can't remember what they are like without checking... or indeed whether they are large or small ones.

Re: Moth Tuning

On the original topic- why doesn't the boat go upwind? 1. The daggerboard is (or was before it became a two piece) a very roughly hand shaped piece of 1" plywood, not the same cross section both sides, and with a sort of undulating finish. It weighs about as much as the rest of the boat put tog...

Re: Moth Tuning

Sadly this weekend I am mostly whoring myself out to the obscure branch of the Civil Service concerned with search and rescue co-ordination. I have to pay for all the toys somehow... Seriously though, a lowrider Moth meet sounds like an excellent idea, I did see a forum post a little while ago talki...

Re: Introductions

Read your resume with interest Simon. You seemed to have owned or sailed several designs which mirror my own 'progress' through the sport. Looked at your album too. Did'nt you have the tri up on the 'bay a while ago? I was interested in it but finances and health issues at the time meant that I had...

Re: Introductions

I have been registered on the forum for quite a while, but only started actively using it recently, so thought I might add my tuppence worth! I'm Simon, age 32, based on the east coast and sail from Walton-on-Naze in Essex. Currently for my day (and night!) job I am a Coastguard watch officer, but p...

Re: Moth Tuning

I've just become the new owner of Int Moth 3936, which started this forum thread- having seen the daggerboard, I'm not at all surprised Alex couldn't get the boat to point!

Taking the boat out for a sail later today.

Re: Prototype Flying Fifteen

From the chap selling the boat: "Having completed the second F15 "My Dear Ah", Uffa Fox sold "My Dainty Duck" to his friend who, with his growing family, sailed her at Cowes for about 20 years. MDD lay the next 40years upside down, under a cover in his garden at Cowes. Elder...
