Players Ciggy Cards

i saw a repro framed picture of 20's /30's sailing boats in a charity shop. The picture showed some 20 or so cards but the print of the cards was quite faded. Amongst the illustrations were a few cards showing dinghies: Nat 12 (presumably) N23, X boat No.2, IC's Nos K29 & 347 (same card), and In...

Re: Classic Boat Insurance

On this subject, has anyone found an insurer who will cover several boats on one premium, on the presumption that only one boat at a time can be sailed? As my boats are mostly rescued from being dumped, I only want 3rd party, and Newton Crum are fairly reasonable for most classes, but they don't cov...

Re: Roll up, roll up, buy an entire museum collection

The last few pages are real history, esp the early IC, and the 14's from the 20's.

Can there be enough takers to save the quantity on offer?

Re: Looks Like a British Moth?

I had another look at the boat last week. The mast step is definitely a socket. The remains of the sail are attached to a basic boom, and it has a luff sleeve as a Laser would. There are no apparent fitting areas for shrouds or forestay anchors. Following on from Godfrey's comments, presumably the b...

Re: Looks Like a British Moth?

Steve. That is a trailer, but beyond redemption, everything seized solid, due to go for scrap next week. There is so much scrap / junk / rubbish it's not possible to put aside anything that's not immediately serviceable........... It's not a composite. Also it was upside down with a trolley or trail...

Re: Looks Like a British Moth?

It looks like an unstayed mast as there appears no anchors for the shrouds and the forestay, unless filled and painted over. There is a definite socket in the deck for the mast. The mast is as light weight as a Minisail ( no offence intended) and one section appears to be broken. The mainsail, was b...

Looks Like a British Moth?

I'm helping a friend clear a large garden with 50 years of hoarding and have uncovered what I would have thought to be a B.M., but it obviously has or had an unstayed mast. ( Remnants of sail on two piece mast had insignia area missing) Also the hull, (GRP) looks more elaborate than other B.M.'s I'v...
