Re: UnSkol gets a newbottom...

Seems a pity to cover up all that hard work with paint, could it not be varnished? A reverse of the traditional 'painted below the waterline' look? (Mothies usually do it differently!), and then nobody will notice when its upside down  The new hull shape is great, quite different to the sharp ...

Re: Baltic Warf event

The Greensforge gang had a superb day thanks to the warm welcome from Baltic Wharf Sailing Club and the Cottage Inn. We were all pleased to have made it round the "Heads of the Harbour" course in such fascinating surroundings. Shame about the wind, though it did pick up through the second ...

Re: Baltic Warf event

If anyone is going from the East I gave a moth mast to throw into the pot.
Please don't encourage Alan to throw any more Moth masts down the motorway :)

Re: Baltic Warf event

Yes I'm up for it .... and I am bringing a few new recruits from Greensforge to play as well. I returned from the club today with a trailer full of Magnums, so watch out Alan we mean business! Sam's magnum 6, Ben's OK and Andy's ancient Phantom are joining me at Baltic Wharf. Some support Mothkiteer...

Re: Moth wants to fly again

Hi Ditta Its a pity you are unable to restore your "Skelly" as you hoped. It is certainly worth saving and would be a welcome sight at classic Moth gatherings. I have someone in our club interested in taking it on if we can arrange collection or postage! ( I would love to see their faces i...

Re: Bendability of Robbins Ply for Rolled-in Decks

The rolled side decks on this boat look to be a similar radius to the Europa Moth, which I'm sure were only bent 4mm ply over a few frames and stringers. It was only when the Europe rules dictated a flat top and vertical sides either side of the strict radius that builders had to resort to cold moul...

Re: Banbury?

A big thank you to Tim and Pat, and all the team at Banbury for a well organised event today. The disappearing wind was a challenge for all of us, and a nightmare for the Race Officer who did his best to set good courses only for them to be dashed by the fickle winds. It was great to see such a wide...

Re: Wanted Classic moth or lowrider

I think you started something here Peter V, all the Finn fleet looking for Moths, what a turnup :D

Will keep a lookout for you Alan (sorry, your friend  )

I do know of an early Roland Europe / Europa moth that would qualify. Opposite end of the scale from a Skippy!

Re: Int Moth K3222 Project

Plenty of action in the paint shop over the last few weeks. Spent lots more time priming filling sanding, then guide coats and repeat. My painter won't put the shiny stuff on until its perfect

Re: UnSkol gets a newbottom...

Something that works... I have insufficient data to reproduce the original Actually, I may be able to help you with that. I am now looking after the Mk2? Skol that Nessa saved, hoping someone at our club will take it on as a project. You could just saw along the dotted line........ Or if you prefer...

Re: Collection of masts etc

Meryl, We Classic Mothies would certainly like to take care of the moth masts. Ian M will happily come over and identify them as he is not far away, although he is not available for the next 2 weekends. Can you save them for us? We could send Alan but its likely they would end up spearing bushes alo...

Re: Moth pics

Greensforge Classic Moth fleet will be happy to take on a spare mast. Is it likely to have come from the orange Skol? We saw some pictures of an odd step arrangement on that boat. The Minty green Mystery Moth is now undergoing rapid refurb with Dave W. I expect he will be signing up for the forum to...
