Re: Can I ask advice on an old I14 mast...

I wouldn't think there would be an issue with this. Handicaps get tweaked for 'state of tune' to take into account mods which may make a boat quicker but I wouldn t of thought this would be in that category. Definitely wouln't make it ineligible, at clywedog there was an old Finn sailing with a carb...

Re: Classic Boat Insurance

I did some shopping around for finn insurance (1 classic and 1 modern boat) earlier this year after a massive price hike from BS, I ended up with GJW, I think there was a multi boat discount but I'm still paying for both and still not cheap! Cost of replacement kit, especially masts, mean Finns are ...

Re: finn- or something else

I don't think it's a Finn, as you say the mast socket is too far back. Maybe an o jolle if a single hander but the bow hole looks like the remains of a spinnaker chute so maybe a double hander - was there a small version of a Flying Dutchman?

Looks great - someone should buy it! Think it's Barney's 2nd boat? Go Alan, you know you want to!

Re: Roll up, roll up, buy an entire museum collection

I had similar thoughts about whether it's ok to update a boat like this. But having seen Peter and Martins boats they are both quite original in terms of the hull but with the controls updated to make them practical to sail and race now and able to take a carbon mast (as well as tin and wood) - seem...

Re: Roll up, roll up, buy an entire museum collection

I found more info on k88 here http://87.106.22.33/iframe/nsbr.php?nsbr=detail&name=2994&function=ALL&filter=ALL&filter_value=&sort=&limit=&id=&boat_id=2994 but I guess the pics are a bit out of date! I do hope someone goes for it, needs saving! Although tempting I don...

Re: Picnic race

Hi Chris I'm sure this will be fine - I have emailed a couple of committee people just to double check and will let you know if there's any probs. Which day would you want to pick up, I will probably be at hunts, but there's lots going on at ssc that weekend so the place will be open most of the time.

Re: Picnic race

Hi Pat and Ian, Great to hear you're both aiming to come. Good luck with the building work Pat! Sounds like bbq is the most popular idea so will probably go with that - we have a kitchen as back up if the weather doesn't play ball! Since suggesting it I've also heard that the chip shop made a horrib...
