The mast is now in it's 4 constituent parts minus it's fittings and most of the paint. Half of it is now in the house in the upstairs hallway drying out/ keeping dry and the rest is still in the garden (until it stops raining when I want to work on it.). I'm now contemplating which bits need to be r...

I'm getting on quite well with the quick release clamps, the ones that are like a cross between a sealant gun and a clamp. I'm thinking these might be good for gluing my mast. Although If you want to get something clamped really tightly G or F Clamps all the way.

Well I've got it. The mast is in a bit of a state but hopefully repairable and the boom belonging to the mast is better (well at least straighter) than the one I already have. The mast has some nice 1960s stainless fittings and some interesting non stainless shrouds and a jubilee clip (holding the t...

I think it's a GP14 mast. I've got some more accurate measurements from the seller and it's about the right length, the gooseneck slider is in the right place as are the shrouds. This is rather good as I could do with another wooden mast!

I'm pretty sure I still have my broken bow bag somewhere, It's a Crewsaver one but you might be able to fit the whole valve type bit onto one of the other bags possibly.

Dunno, my GP is a R R Sills boat. That is getting pretty illegible too, though it is also branded on top of the centreboard case too. Is there a classic boat builders/kit suppliers list somewhere out there?

Varnish on fittings looks great for a time but looks bad after, kind of how modern brass letter boxes etc go when the protective laquer get's scratched, only not as bad as it was tarnished before. However on the occasions when I have varnished over things (I always tried to go around things but when...

I'm currently in Portsmouth, so anywhere vaguely Southish shouldn't be a particularly big problem. I have a large bag full of rigging which should do, though I would think it might depend on whether the mast has spreaders. I'll phone about the mast at Shearwater. It'll be nice to get the old girl sa...

I had a rather unfortunate accident in January with my old wooden mast and have been trying to find a second hand aluminium one to replace it withand not yet suceeded. Does anyone have one I can buy? I'm also contemplating making a new wooden mast over the summer as I was rather fond of the old one ...
